Idun was not nearly as perceptive as Bragi was. This wasn't to say Idun wasn't perceptive. It was just that she couldn't look too closely. Not at Bragi, not at her own reactions to Bragi. She was undeniably, irreversibly, painfully and completely in love with the Road God, but Idun wasn't aware of this yet. She was purposely refusing to remember what being perceptive even was, because as long as she remained oblivious, she was safe. Nothing went beyond curious reactions and even curiouser stirrings. Emotions held no real weight, because she wasn't scratching anything beneath any surface anywhere. When he nodded, Idun just took it for a nod and didn't add any extra words to describe it. Not dumbly or curiously or adorably. It was just a nod.
But, even with a stubborn internal declaration nailed up on the message board of her mind, Idun couldn't help but scratch a bit at the surface of his reply. Innocent scratching. Barely rubbing her fingernail at the surface, to be perfectly honest. His words just felt too easy, and she was suspicious as a result, and so her eyes narrowed slightly. "But sometimes they do," she said, and Idun immediately regretted it. No, curiosity was one thing, but bad advice was another! Bad advice had to be constructed just as carefully as a beautiful letter, so what was the point in bothering if she was going to muck it up herself with curiosity. "Not this time, of course. Obviously. But you'll learn to tell the difference, I'm sure." When Idun blinked, she pretended she rolled her eyes at herself. She deserved it.
As Bragi replied, Idun realized the position she had put them both in. They were meant to be friends. Bragi definitely seemed convinced of this reality. He seemed unaware of Idun's unbecoming feelings towards his lady love. Bragi didn't notice when she purposely aimed at sabotage with her advice. They were friends. Her question hadn't been friendly. It had crossed that line. Just a step or two over, but over all the same. A friend would always be bothered if their pal was gobbled up by a giant. A more-than-friend might have a very different reaction, however. Like devastation, for example. Idun felt her mouth go dry. Her palms became a bit sweaty inside her gloves, then dropped the 'bit' entirely and stuck strictly to sweaty. Very sweaty. Her breath shook as she exhaled, and Idun stared with all the not-feelings she was not feeling shining clearly in her eyes. Just for a moment, but a moment that seemed to stretch on forever.
Devastated.
"You'd be fine," she said. Dryly. Her throat was quite literally dry, so how else would she say something? Idun cleared her throat. "You have Jondi, after all." Devastation was reserved for the loss of love, not the loss of a friend in a net. Still, she couldn't quite shake the odd feeling that, after briefly flicking her nail at the surface, Idun had uncovered something interesting. When Bragi shrugged, she let the feeling go. His tone was alarming. Her eyes widened again.
"Plan? Plan?! Oh yes, I'm going to chew through the ropes. Just waiting for the opportune moment, don't mind me!"
