There was a chance that Idun's lips tugged their way into something of a smug smile when he declared that her terrible, love story-destroying advice was brilliant. That was a terrible reaction to his misguided enthusiasm, and it certainly wasn't a friendly thing to be doing in the first place, but Idun couldn't help it. Sometimes, she just wanted him to remember that he'd kissed her first. Even if he forgot. This whole mess started when he kissed her first. Thinking about that kiss made her do what she predictably did whenever it drifted into her thoughts now: it made her smile vanish. Idun almost fell into a pool of wistful remembrance, but gripping the rope a bit tighter kept her firmly inside her net. That was for the best. It was bad enough that he'd practically sighed and swooned a moment earlier as he thought of his goddess. She didn't need to add their kiss into this mess.
Anyway, Bragi was doing what Bragi did best: taking her advice in completely the wrong light. She was telling him to give her a substandard letter. He was concocting ways to make the art of letter correspondence into an even more romantic gesture than it already was. That wasn't what she'd meant at all, and as Idun scrunched up her nose skeptically, her face did a good job of saying as much.
"That's your plan?" she asked. She made a point of offering a tone that said it was a very bad plan, so he'd know her criticism was coming before she even started with it. "I suppose that could work. But it might also make you appear indecisive, which isn't the most attractive of qualities. You can't give her two copies of the same letter. It might even be seen as lazy, or even negligent! No, you really should go with the first draft. Go with your gut."
She smiled back when he smiled at her, but Idun didn't mean to. It was habit at this point. Friends smiled at each other. When his expression shifted, Idun's turned curious, and she leaned forward in her net as though doing so would bring her closer to the intrigue.
Jondi was mad at him. That shouldn't have delighted Idun, but it did. She was a terrible friend. Absolutely deplorable! "Really? Why is she mad? Are you sure you should be apologizing? Sometimes it's best to stand strong until she comes crawling back." She was undeniably the worst friend in all the nine worlds. No question.
