Cage the Minute [Early Asgard] (Tag: Bragi)
There was a good amount of pondering for a goddess to do after unexpectedly finding herself trapped in a net suspended precariously from a tree branch. This was surprising to Idun when she found herself in just such a situation. Her thoughts refused to stop at Now what? On the contrary, she had thoughts stumbling over one another in a frenzied attempt to grab her attention first. Perhaps it was because Idun had never given nets much thought, but now that she was trapped in one, she realized it would've been nice to be prepared for something like this. Having an 'In Case of Imprisonment in Tree Net' emergency plan probably would've made her feel better.
Feeling better wasn't in the cards. Idun didn't have an emergency plan, so she was doomed to be uncomfortable. At least nets offered all that quality thinking time. Now what? led to I wonder if this branch will hold up... which carried her mind right into This fall might be uncomfortable, and finally ...who put this net here? That was when Idun's brow finally furrowed. She could deal with being in a net, even though the brooch closing her hooded cloak was the closest thing to a knife she had. Idun had already unclasped it and was stabbing determinedly at the network of ropes making up her prison. Her problem was with the maker of the rope. The individual who had set this net.
She thought back to what had drawn her into the trap to begin with. A passing rabbit. It had hopped off merrily, and as Idun watched it, she noticed a lovely patch of flowers a few yards off into the woods. "Why not?" she'd said to herself. And two steps later, she was launched into the air with a surprising number of thoughts to think. The rabbit couldn't possibly have been a pawn in the game this net's owner had set, but Idun considered this option anyway. She looked down, trying to spot the rabbit so she could glare at it.
The only movement that caught her attention was on the road, however. It was just a forest path, really, one that saw little travel as far as Idun could tell. That's why she liked it. Being stuck in the net, perhaps the minimal foot traffic would've eventually become a problem, but before that thought crossed her mind, there was movement. Idun squinted, trying to catch sight of the approaching god. When she saw him, she frowned. Of course. Of course. Idun was in no mood to hear about Bragi's lovely goddess, but as their friendship had developed, so had the god's relationship with his goddess, and as a friend, she had come into the details of the budding romance. She couldn't handle hearing any of that, not when she was trapped in a net, not when she didn't even have a knife to cut herself down, not when she looked terrible.
Idun sighed, and slumped as far back in the net as the ropes would allow. Well, she certainly wasn't going to draw attention to herself. It was too embarrassing. With any luck, he'd just keep walking.
