Bragi laughed because it was a better reaction than all the alternatives. He could either feel sorry for himself for missing out on that warm cozy feeling that so apparently invaded other people's hearts or he could find it funny. He'd decided it was funny. When his answer surprised the goddess so completely, he laughed again. Bragi had surprised her on accident that time, but now he would keep his eyes out for other things that might get that reaction from her. It was alright for a friend to love to surprise the other and make her laugh for the light sake of laughing. He smiled and shook his head.
“I have wandering feet” Bragi explained. He loved finding new places, and there were several that had a glorious kind of nostalgia in his heart, but there were none that he felt he had to return to. That was the problem. He enjoyed them immensely, but he never felt like he had to ever go back. Bragi considered her idea and the smile became wider. “That's a very romantic idea” he said, “We'll have to see.” The funny thing was that Bragi felt like he was the closest he'd ever come to that feeling right then. Only it didn't have anything to do with the orchard.
He bit his lip and chuckled. Bragi could see that she was teasing him. He didn't mind. “Maybe there just isn't a hall with enough writings for me,” Bragi said. He smirked. Bragi liked talking with her there under the apple trees. He now looked back and wished he'd kissed her a third time while he still could, but he enjoyed just talking. He enjoyed just talking with anyone, but he especially enjoyed it with her. He had an insatiable curiosity for the fabric of her life.
“I know a few people with that gift. Not my brothers. But some family” Bragi said. He forced a smile, but internally he was shuddering. It was only a gift for the people who liked the bickering. For those outside that, Bragi considered it a sort of curse. He was glad his brothers mostly got along. Sometimes Hod and Baldr didn't, but Bragi wouldn't call it bickering. “What do they bicker about?” If Bragi ever met her brothers, he wanted to steer clear of any bickering subjects. Well, as well as he could anyway. People with the gift could sometimes find fire in water. “I haven't heard of a dish like that but it sounds delicious. It must be if it's your favorite. But I do not think you need to worry about making a bad impression when you meet them. If they think you're horrid, dull, or terribly annoying, dessert or no, I might need new brothers.” Bragi could joke because he wasn't worried about losing them to that statement. Some were a bit rougher around the edges but they all had very good natured hearts.
The question caught him off guard the first second, but Bragi recovered quickly. “I came to Asgard” Bragi answered. “I grew up in my grandfather's house with my mother for the first part. Then I came to Asgard to find my father and stayed with him and stepmother for the second.” He didn't mind going into the generalities about his childhood. It was the specifics that got kind of tricky sometimes.
