When she went after him instead of the spoon, Bragi knew he was in trouble. She was cheating. She was planning something, trying to distract him, and Bragi did not have any chance of figuring out her nefarious secret purpose, because his mouth was distracted by her mouth, and when Bragi's mouth was distracted, his mind saw no reason not to be too. One hand was busy hiding the spoon, Idun had the other hand, and now Bragi's mouth was occupied in ways that might make them consider getting a newer new counter soon. He was helpless. Completely in her grasp to be done with as she pleased. Oh well.
Somewhere during the more covert form of plotting, Bragi relinquished his hold on the spoon. It bounced off the table and clattered to the floor. If that had been her goal, she'd won. It was a good thing Bragi had changed the rules a bit earlier, so he'd already won right before that happened. He left the spot of whipped cream on his face. Bragi wasn't going to lick it off. He refused to give her that satisfaction. He'd keep the whip cream there. Forever. Just to spite her.
Bragi bit the corner of his lower lip. “That is a peculiar story. If she believes the bluejay was engaged in psychological warfare I will not doubt it. But I have to wonder if there was a bluejay out there who was terrified of Swedish heiresses. I think he does make cuckoo clocks. But if we warned him, I'm sure he could remove the offending clocks from the premises before he shows them to her. That way we do not have to worry about her being uncomfortable.” They weren't there to discuss this particular match, but for a moment, Bragi forgot this. Fortunately, Idun didn't.
“I was quite serious” Bragi said. Well he'd at least been serious that there was a way to make pixie stix. The part about it being a shame that she wasn't going that route, there his tone whether teasing or not was completely up to her interpretation. “You can try it later.” After he left. But Bragi didn't want to think about that yet, so he didn't say those words. He pondered the situation with Vidar. “If the pixie stix work out well perhaps we can make them optional appetizers.” He didn't want to underestimate whether or not Vidar might enjoy a sudden rush of sugar. Vidar had a very wonderful way of surprising everyone.
