If he hadn't been so busy doing the Lottie imitation, Bragi might have said he barely tasted the whip cream because Idun was already that sweet anyway. It was probably a good thing he'd been too busy. That could have come off as cheesy, even for him. But he managed to sneak in a dreamy looking smile. Nothing surpassed an ice cream sundae in terms of ideal deliciousness. Especially on a hot day. But if Bragi had known Idun was going to sit on the island counter like that, he would have come home anyway, and he probably would not have been so late.
Bragi leaned down and accepted the offered spoon while he let Idun process the information he had just given her. He let the ice cream melt and cool his mouth a little before he swallowed. He could see why they decided to do this. Bragi walked over to the retrieved his own. Then he pulled himself up onto the counter and sat facing her, while he mused over Idun's reaction.
Her tone and manner were nonchalant, but Bragi wasn't fooled. He'd seen the smile sneak around that spoon in the beginning. You don't forget something like that. It had been so adorable he'd nearly lost the ability to conjugate. She was teasing him, and they both knew it. Bragi pressed his lips together. Then he extended a spoonful of his ice cream to her in return.
“Yes” Bragi said, matching her tone. “But I'm obviously boring you. We can talk about something more interesting if you'd like. The weather. Stock options. Dividends. Doilies.” He paused. The sly hint of a smile began to play at the corners of his mouth and eyes. “Or that Lottie also met Vidar.” Then Bragi raised both eyebrows and lowered his chin slightly with his lips together and his eyes wide and gave her that telltale look. The look that if it could be audible would sound something like 'OoooOooOoo' followed by organ music and the distant clang of wedding bells.
