"Right," Thanatos said. He very clearly didn't understand, but the beauty of his current situation was that he didn't need to. Than also didn't care if he understood. The only thing that mattered was the way the air rippled when Bast laughed. Her temple was a bathroom in a temple and it was underwater and her laughter was floating and it was all so perfectly fluid and easy. It didn't even matter that he'd ended up on his back in the tub, because everything was perfect. "I feel like the moon," he sighed. Because she was the sun. With all the golds and blues floating by, it made sense.
He could've fallen asleep. Thanatos thought briefly about his twin, and wondered if he was sleeping right now, and then he wondered if Hypnos would like some of whatever Than had taken to slip into his tea. This was wonderful. Everything was wonderful. Thanatos wished wonderful things for his brother. Yes, he decided. He was going to fall asleep. His eyes slipped shut and Than folded one arm behind his head, and Bast stroking at the soft feathers of his wings felt like a goodnight kiss. Everything was wonderful, and Bast didn't mind his wings in her tub, and Thanatos was going to sleep.
Except he wasn't tired. And Bast was pulling off his boots. Than opened his eyes as she stepped into the tub with him, and the smile that crossed his lips was one part awestruck to two parts hopelessly moronic. Than had to pull his legs into the tub before he could actually get up, but taking her hand was something he couldn't complain about. She was bare, and touching her was like walking on the surface of the sun. You come to appreciate all the burns, right up until the moment you melt.
Thanatos barely managed to steady himself before the water came on. Having the wings stretched out did keep him from falling, but Than thought it had more to do with Bast than anything else. He was trapped by her, held captive in orbit around her. And now it was raining and he was folding his wings up and everything was still wonderful, just in a different way.
"This is magic," he said. Than didn't look up, but if he had, he wouldn't have seen how the water was falling anyway. The mechanics would've been lost on him. Nothing could spoil this for him. "It's rain. You made it rain." Thanatos chuckled quietly and shook his head a bit, feeling each drop of water as they launched from his shaking hair and sprayed out in random directions. When he stopped, he felt dizzy and he grinned.
