“Oh yes” Bragi said musing. “The slightly murderous glare she kept giving me in the beginning after her bird flew up a few branches. I remember it well.” He bit his lip. He could picture yesterday perfectly, even the picture, which was rare for him. The words generally came perfect. The image generally came a bit foggier. But she remained clear. He hadn't known for sure, but he had thought her thoughts might have strayed in the tree knocking direction a few times.
Bragi raised a hand and a shoulder as if to say 'Ehh.'. “Well no one's perfect,” he said.
In most company a maybe could mean yes or no, but when it came to the fire maiden, Bragi had come to the conclusion that 'maybe' was as close to 'yes' as she could get, and very very far from the 'No!'s she could reach. So while she had said 'maybe' what she actually meant was 'please do. I would enjoy that very much. This wall is just muffling what I'm trying to say.' Bragi grinned. He'd been hoping she would say that.
She kept starting to climb up that wall herself, and then she'd catch it, become outraged and slip back down. Curiosity dived in and out of her green green eyes. Replacing, and then being replaced with a steelier look. Bragi didn't know how she managed to make both so adorable, and the inner struggle between them more adorable still. “Maybe” Bragi said. The devious grin came back, before it turned into a smirk. The maybe was the closest he would get to yes, and very far from the 'No's' he could reach.
He laughed. Well, if she was putting it like that, Bragi didn't know how he could get away with not answering again, vagueness and all. “Unassuming is good,” Bragi said, “But I'd like more of a mix. A great deal of the unexpected, but with some expectations. If it is all unexpected I won't get to marvel at the unexpected as much as I'd like, but if it is all expected that isn't much of a journey is it? There needs to be wonder, but also some hope, and a great deal of risk involved. Reaching the top of a tree doesn't mean as much if you couldn't have fallen. I expect to keep doing what I've been doing because those parts of the journey have pleased me so far. I expect to settle down eventually besides the occasional adventure. The rest will be surprising.” Bragi still wasn't sure exactly what sort of an answer she was looking for, but he hoped that would answer her question.
