To Idun, Bragi was precisely as she recalled him. She couldn't help but think I could be shockingly frustrated by you right now. But she wasn't because she hadn't appreciated his appearance yesterday, when he interrupted her quiet. Idun had been trapped in a cycle of stubborn annoyance. Bragi was the same god, with the same smooth voice and the same blue eyes and the same quick tongue, but now his appearance had her wondering. Short of following her, which seemed unlikely because his greeting, while structured to sound like a continuation of a meeting, not the beginning of one, had been genuine. He hadn't expected to see her there, and somehow Idun knew that, even if he tried to cover the fact up.
And if he wasn't following her, she wasn't allowed to be angry. She wasn't allowed to stop smiling either, apparently, because the tickling thrill of anticipation refused to leave her system. She smiled when he shook his head and she smiled when he reached over and plucked grass from her hair. It was the smirk that followed that truly got her. Idun's gaze dropped to the ground for a moment, and if ever she was going to look bashful, it was right then. "Some might say you just called me treasure, she pointed out. Her cheeks were no rosier than before, but they felt warmer. "But that couldn't possibly be right. I treated you too badly yesterday for that."
A slight air of teasing in her tone was how she'd avoid bright red cheeks. Idun was no stranger to innocent flirting. It was all an elegant dance, and Idun so loved to dance. And there was so much music to Bragi, well, she'd find the rhythm. And then she'd be fine. Right after he stopped pulling that serious expression, because it made her laugh immediately. The list didn't help. The list wrinkled the corners of her eyes with a smile.
"Hmm," Idun mused, battling back her own delighted grin to touch a finger thoughtfully to her lips. His list needed to be considered objectively. "You would undoubtedly make a better bear snack than I would. You have at least a foot of height on me. That's a foot of extra snacking for a bear. And I do appreciate support." To demonstrate, Idun shifted her bouquet into her other hand so she could take his arm. And he was warm. Idun noticed that immediately, and the urge that struck was to move even closer, though she resisted. "But I've been sharing witty comments all day to nobody in particular, and I'm apparently content to enjoy my own laughter. Now there's the dilemma. Hmm."
