He was glad when she didn't press the subject of his own pantheon. There was just so much of that topic that wasn't at all suited for pleasant conversation.
Then her face fell flat, and he couldn't help but laugh at her impression of Thanatos's standard expression. "That's pretty good!" Admittedly, she was much too animated, especially when talking about Than, for it too look very convincing. But it was the attempt that struck him as so humorous.
His amused expression then shifted into a very poor interpretation of his friends' default face. He couldn't quite pull off the staggering indifference, though. At best it looked like a slightly more aggressive version of it. What Than's face looked like aggressive, much less angry; Thor hadn't really ever seen. However, what looked like anger on Thanatos probably just looked like contemplation on Thor; so maybe he had seen it and just hadn't been able to discern the difference. That inability to correctly interpret the subtleties of his expressions had made for a somewhat confusing start to their friendship. And was one of the many reasons Thor so enjoyed his company. Always kept him guessing.
At her question, he thought back to their initial meeting. "I tried to lure him into a fight." He shrugged, as though it was a fairly typical occurrence. "But he refused, very politely. So I sat him down, and we shared a few drinks and discussed our differences. It was... new, for me." He paused. "I have to say, that's the first and only time that's ever happened."
