Idun knew of Loki's arrival, but she took her time reacting to it. She was excited to see her friend, though that was no surprise. Idun was always excited to see him, whether decades passed between visits, or simply days. But the orchard was a place where he liked to think, and Idun was aware of this. She knew he was there, and she was almost positive he would remain there for some time, but Idun tried to allow him some time with his thoughts before she inevitably crashed his solo orchard party.
She always crashed it. That was nonnegotiable. But it took an hour before she did so. If for no other reason, Loki could gather his thoughts before Idun came to curiously pick his brain. She had no expectations, but she was always curious. And, on that occasion, she was curious and came bearing two tall cups full of spiced wine. She couldn't justify poor hostessing simply because Loki preferred sitting under apple trees to coming inside her hall. Idun preferred sitting under apple trees as well. He still got refreshments when he visited, though.
"You look pensive," she said, closing the last few feet between them. Idun's dress was too long, the skirt gathering dirt at its hem as it dragged. It had been made to her height in shoes, but Idun was barefoot. She smiled softly as she offered him one of the cups, then tugged her hem up a bit so she could comfortably drop to the ground. The white fabric would be stained with grass all down the skirt, but she couldn't be bothered to care.
"I decided to try my hand at apple wine. The spices make it taste a bit like dessert." She sipped thoughtfully, tilting her head as she swallowed to take in the sight of Loki and his growing pile of plucked grass blades. "Should I bring out more, or will a single sip loosen your lips? I'd love to hear what's on your mind, Loki."
