Anansi frowned a bit that he didn't get more of a reaction from the child, but he didn't dwell on it more than to think that he would need to come up with a better story than what he'd told her. That wasn't so bad. And challenges kept the mind working well.
He watched the girl as the other god told his tale. Anansi enjoyed hearing the story that came forth and was happy to find another who was so good at telling them.
But at the end, the girl had much the same reaction. Anansi looked at her and devised a plan. He stood from the bed and waved the other god over, to conspire with him against the will of the young Greek who was stubbornly sitting abed and refusing to sleep.
"We must work together, I think." Anansi said quietly when he was joined. "We must tell a tale that combines many elements that she has not previously known. A grand tale that has not yet seen the light of the day. I have now heard you spin a web, my friend, and I have no doubt that between us this can be done. What do you say?"
