There was a bit of a tussle as Philotes tried to shield Idun while Idun tried to shield her, and in the end, neither one of them probably accomplished their goal. So it was for the best that most of the fireworks seemed to be headed skyward instead of at them. This time. Somewhere in the process, Lottie forgot to hold her skirt and it fell to its natural lines. Fortunately there hadn't been any animals in it when that happened, except for the directionally-challenged chipmunk. Immediately upon remembering that, she glanced down to find him clinging to the fabric, looking rather dazed from all the goings-on.
Friendship let go of Idun to grab the fuzzy creature and nodded. “Right. A ditch. Then a trip to China. That's the new plan. Alright. Alright.”
The only problem with that plan was that she had absolutely no idea how to accomplish that. At all. She'd never been to China before, and though she had a rough guess on how to get there, Philotes wasn't completely certain. Once they got there, would they be able to find the vendor again? Because obviously they needed the same vendor. He gave out instructions with the fireworks, and they really needed those for Idun to share with her husband. He needed to see the elephant too, or it wouldn't be half so much fun for him.
But more pressing and more immediate was the issue of the ditch. Neither of them had a shovel, and they'd just relocated all of the burrowing animals from the field. Not that she had any clue just how they would have harnessed the bunnies to work for them anyway. Oh! That was it! Harness!
“We need a horse and a plow!” she exclaimed. “And that shouldn't be too hard to find, right? Because we're in the country and this is a field, there has to be a plow nearby, and if there's a plow, there has to be a horse, though that would mean that there was a farm nearby which is really bad because then we definitely need to stop the fire because we can't burn down a farm, I don't think I can fit goats in my skirt, so we need to figure this out now, and I think the first step is to find a plow, right? Right.”
Lottie had no idea if it would work. She just knew it had to work.
