Idun saw Philotes smile. She saw the smile, and saw the Greek goddess quickly sweep it from her lips, and that nearly made her smile, because they were both being so professional! Who would've thought? Being professional certainly hadn't held much appeal before this, and Idun could not recall a single instance where she made a true, determined effort to remain serious in the name of some exhilarating activity. In fact, when things were as exciting as fireworks, Idun was usually too busy bouncing around enthusiastically to really stop and appreciate the seriousness of the task at hand.
She could see it already: adventure after adventure, all with Philotes, having an unnatural amount of fun being professional together. Once again, Idun nearly grinned. She had to remind herself not to, and when that didn't help much, she told herself that, without acting professional, they were going to burn down the field and kill bunnies, in all likelihood. Well fine, she told herself. Fine, professional it is. That didn't mean her words were any less enthusiastic when she turned to accept the exchange Philotes had proposed.
"You have the best ideas!" she said, rolling her weight from her heels to her toes, then back again. "Are you sure you don't want to light it? I mean, I have the lantern now, yes, but that wouldn't really stop you. I can give it back. Since I have the others, and I'm sure Bragi won't mind if I light one of his fireworks. He's very good like that. I think you'd love him, actually. You two would get along great! I'll have to introduce you the next time he's home, just because it would be horrible to stand in the way of a great friendship, you know? But seriously, you can light it. As a reward! You've been so wonderful, I'd hate for you not to experience this as thoroughly as possible."
Idun had to take a breath. And in that time, Philotes was being incredibly reassuring, and that was just so sweet. Idun wasn't going to smile, but it was definitely shining in her eyes, appreciation and adoration and all manner of other nice emotions. "You really have to light the fireworks now! You're just too nice and friendly and wonderful. That means a lot to hear, I mean it. Sometimes I worry, just because I talk and smile and flail so much, I sometimes don't realize if a person is actually enjoying all that. But if you think he did, then I believe you."
