Kratos considered his brother's argument. There was a certain amount of merit to it, but there was a flaw. “Most people. There's good in most people. But some people don't want to be saved from themselves, Zee. Sometimes, people like the results of taking the easy road too much to give it up, even if it eats away at their soul and causes pain for others. And some people... some people may have good in them, but they just don't let it out anymore. If they don't let it out, then it's like it's not really there at all.”
It was a dark thought, one prompted by memories of their father. This wasn't the first time that Kratos had his mind turned toward the paternal parent by these movies. Finding out that Darth Vader had been Luke's father, with the theme of a good son discovering the evil that was his father, had hit very close to home for him. He hadn't really discussed it with Zelos, not openly anyway. They'd talked about it a bit, but Strength wasn't sure that his brother had seen it quite the same way. Mostly because he did seem to be drawn to some of the less honorable elements in the movies himself.
Zee was totally Han Solo.
Kray could live with that though, because in the end, Han was a good guy. His motives and methods were occasionally questionable, but he was a loyal friend who did the right thing in the end. Usually. Which was a far, far, far cry from Darth Maul.
As he walked through the door to the ice cream shop, he commented, “I don't know that it is a fluke though. I think... I think he's trying to rewrite it, to 'improve' it. You wait, you'll see, other filmmakers are going to start doing that stupid stuff too. Especially with DVDs. Now they can go back an 'fix' things they've already done. It's going to be stupid. And this is the start of it. I don't know that I want to be part of that.”
He looked into the case, trying to see all the flavors. “Do you think they have pistachio?” It wasn't that he hadn't heard Zee say he was buying. Kratos just wasn't accepting that proposition. The ice cream had been his idea, he was buying.
