First of all, a dog that came up to her shoulder was not even remotely regular sized. Secondly, he was going to get bigger apparently. And finally, he had three sets of fangs. Three sets. Three. Lottie blinked and blurted, “Are you sure it's a dog?”
She immediately shook her head and said, “Sorry, of course it is, you know what a dog looks like. But you're absolutely right, I really don't think you should give that dog to a little girl. I mean, even if it was a little yippy type dog, it shouldn't go to a little girl. Three sets of fangs are a little abnormal, and it makes me wonder if it would be more inclined to biting, but even if it was the sweetest dog in the world it's got to look a little odd and children can be kind of sensitive when others pick on them for things that are out of the ordinary, and this dog definitely qualifies as out of the ordinary, but the thing is it's not just the teeth, because you're describing a huge animal and if it's young and is going to get bigger like you think then it definitely shouldn't go to just anybody, I don't even think it should go to somebody immortal, I'd say a titan, but most of them are in hiding now, obviously, even the good ones and I don't blame them because that guilt by association thing can be really nasty, but that only leaves gods and I suppose I could ask some of my siblings, but I'm not sure how good some of them would be with a pet because they're a little nasty themselves, I mean not in their hearts exactly, but they have patronages that aren't always the most pleasant, even though they're good people in general, just not exactly the pet-keeping sorts, you know, but I don't think this dog should be left on it's own because it doesn't sound normal and like I said people don't always like things that are outside of what they're used to and what if somebody tries to hurt him?”
She stopped and sighed, sucking in a much needed breath before letting it back out. “Fine. I'll take him. I don't know where I'll keep him or what I'll do with him, but I'll take him.”
Once she saw it, she could decide if it was really a dog or not. Because really... three sets of fangs. She would need to see if maybe Artemis could help the poor thing with whatever orthodontic problems it had that gave it three sets of fangs in one mouth. Obviously somebody needed to look after it.
