"Daytime, with onlookers, and all that ridiculous swim attire? No. Mak, I'd rather swim at night, in the nude, and I hope you realize that's saying something."
Thanatos took another sip of wine, then reached for the bottle to top off both their glasses. And why not? They were drinking and enjoying the company, as well as the scenery. It was a perfectly nice combination, a vacation from the normal backdrop of their days. All that gloom and depression, forgotten for a few brief moments every few years. In spite of all the unpleasant things he had to say about mankind, he did appreciate the constant building.
Makaria truly seemed to enjoy the new, brilliant structures they went to see together. Thanatos liked when she was happy. Over the years, he hadn't seen enough of that happiness. Not really.
"Hm?" Thanatos hummed, turning his gaze back to Makaria. He blinked, offered her a proper, albeit faint, smile, and then reached for the basket. "It tastes even better than it looks. Like the Greeks used to make it. This is comfort food. And that little place I found it at will be gone soon, more than likely. All the good eateries are gone. Man does not know good food when he tastes it. Here, try this."
He pulled out each dish he had purchased and then scooped a bit onto a fork, before offering the mouthful to his companion.
There was cheering in the distance, on the bridge more than likely, but Thanatos ignored it.
