That was the last thought that ran through her mind as she saw him draw his weapon. She had known he would attack, but there was the assumption that he would be his usual disgustingly honorable self and fight her in hand-to-hand combat. Thereby attracting unwanted attention to himself and earning himself a position amongst those traitorous few who rose up again the Fuhrer. She had assumed wrong. Enyo had her hand on her gun the second he saw his leave the holster but it wasn't drawn in time before she watched the bullet barreling down on her.
And it struck true. Well, if he was aiming for her chest, that was. He didn't aim for her head, as she would have done if their positions had been reversed. That would have ended her corpus immediately. This was more... well, she was going to bleed into lungs. So this body was either going to bleed out or drown from the blood. It meant she was going to have to spend a considerable amount of time in Concept before she was ready to take up another corpus.
How... inconvenient.
She loved her current corpus and she hadn't had to rebuilt in probably at least a few hundred years. This was annoying at best.
Her hand never clasped her weapon. Instead it went to her chest, where she felt the bullet enter. “You shot me,” she said in surprise, more that he'd succeeded in doing so and that he'd fight dishonorably rather than him actually making use of the gun. Enyo had only been shot once before and that was a self-inflicted shot to her thigh so she could see what it actually felt like to have a bullet pierce her flesh. She looked down at the new wound curiously. Then she watched her uniform darken, staining with the ichor that poured forth -her greek godly blood.
Enyo's knees began to weaken, but she touched the wound covering her hand in ichor then looked back up at him, smiled and smeared her own blood on her face. If she was going to have this corpus die, she was certainly going to make it go out with a bang -literally and figuratively. A moment later, she collapsed to her knees, coughing as her lungs filled with blood. She tasted metal in her mouth as she coughed and when she spat to the ground, it was stained red.
“You... realize...” she breathed as she sat back and held herself up with her palm, “that this isn't... over.”
With a final cough and exhale, her corpus went still and collapsed completely to the ground.
