Unwelcome News [Silver Age] (tag: Harmonia)
The errand Zeus was sending Hermes on was not high on his list of fun things to spend an afternoon doing. Point of fact, it was right down at the bottom of his list. As his personal messenger, Hermes was often called upon to carry out unpleasant instructions. None had ever been as unpleasant as this one was going to be.
Hermes loved his father, but he didn't always like his king. Today was definitely one of those days. At least he wasn't sending him to speak to Ares. Harmonia would not be pleased, that much was true, but he was far more likely to be able to leave with his head still intact.
As long as she didn't call that wacko aunt of hers. Of all his half-siblings, Hermes did his best to avoid Enyo. At all costs. That one was just plain nuts.
The really pity in it all was that Hermes genuinely liked the daughter of Love and War. His niece was always pleasant to be around, and he loved her bright nature. It hurt him to know he would be the catalyst that would dim her mood.
Hermes had donned the "borrowed" invisibility cloak for his venture onto Aphrodite's temple grounds. While not Ares' home, he could never be sure if the God of War would be about, and he didn't want to accidentally run into him and have to explain his purpose. Dite would be no better. She would not be any more happy than Ares would be, and she had a tendency to distract the Messenger. He crept carefully across the grounds and through the temple until he was sure neither of Harmonia's parents were about. He removed the cloak as he approached her from behind, his attempt at a smile a complete failure.
"Hey, Harm."
