Lottie always said some of the most peculiar things, but they usually brought a smile to Persephone's face. She couldn't help but laugh at the tale of the pansies watching her. "Well, I have to learn all those little secrets somehow, don't I?
"We don't have to sit in the dirt this time," she said reassuring the other goddess by rubbing her shoulders. "We can walk and talk at the same time." That said, she turned slipping her arm under Philotes and began to guide her down the path. There was a wide variety of plant life. She'd worked rather hard on the garden, even more so since her mother took away the best gardener. Hades was still understandably sore about the whole thing, but Askalaphos was a cute owl at least.
"It's not just a chat this time, just a request," she said settling her hand on Philotes' arm gently. "You know I'm burdened with having to leave for such a great time and...I cannot be here for my family. There's so much I want to give them and I cannot think of a better way to relay that than with you." She took a moment to review what she'd just said before continuing. "Zagreus was loved by Zeus, Melinoe..." she didn't bother to continue the sentence, "Makaria is new to this world. I wish I could be there for her and give her as much love and nurturing as I can, but I can't. Hades is also burdened by the demands of being king."
She stopped long enough to gingerly move a low hanging branch out of the way so that they could pass beneath it. As she did so, she turned to look at Philotes. "Could you make sure that she's never lonely?" It wasn't posed as a demand or some sort of royal decree. It was a question. She was asking as a friend not as a queen, even though it was within her power. It just would not have been right.
