Philotes loved Persephone. She had since their very first meeting. It wasn't that Lottie didn't love the Underworld, because she did. There was comfort in the darkness, in the jagged edges and dangerous turns, because they were what she knew. They were home. But when Persephone arrived...
It was like a breath of fresh air. Almost literally. Though she hadn't been happy here at first, Lottie was happy every time she came. Not only because it perked Hades up-- and she really hated it when he was down and glum-- but because Friendship missed Seph herself. She smelled like sunlight on green grass and flowers and spring breezes, all things that Lottie didn't get to smell at home. She loved going topside, she did, and meeting people was wonderful, but it was amazing that Persephone could bring some of that with her when she came to the Underworld. Plus she gave amazing hugs, and Lottie was a connoisseur of hugs.
So when Persephone called, Lottie went. Not because she was the Queen, but because she was her friend. While she would never say so, especially in front of Hades who had a thing for clinging to his crown, that second part was far more important to Philotes. She would give respect to somebody that wore a crown, but she'd give everything for a friend.
She found her royal friend in her garden. That was hardly surprising. It was where Persephone spent a lot of time, even down here, among growing things. Lottie loved that, that Seph made things grow in the darkness. And somehow, it was natural, because that's exactly where her friend belonged, in the middle of things that were blooming and blossoming.
She didn't want to startle Persephone, so very quietly, she cleared her throat and waited patiently. There would be hugs, absolutely, but this was still her queen and Lottie had been taught manners and decorum. Sometimes, she even managed to remember those lessons.
