Eris loved her wings. They were so black and pretty. She beamed and nodded when he gawked at them. “I was born with them,” Eris said in case he wondered. She was a special little princess that way, and it made the wars fun because then she could drop a bunch of sharp things from different heights. Then Eris disappeared her wings on the off chance that someone might come by. Eris sometimes liked to shock people that way, but not when she was playing with a new friend. This was about him, not her.
His reaction to the pear made Eris laugh and she nodded again. Then Eris leaned in closer. “Do you want to know what was in the cage?” she asked. Then because she wanted to tell him whether he wanted to know or not, Eris continued. “It was a thing I found all the way far far away to the south. A small growly thing! Like a little black bear dog hissing thing. And it had a white ring around its neck. And it was MEAN. And I separated the cage into two sections and put a chicken in the other one.” Whoever ended up with the bird cage was going to be so surprised. Eris hoped the mean growly thing would be happy. “Thank you so much for helping me. I could not have saved the market without you.”
“I'm Eris,” she said, “Goddess of Consumer Rights. What's your name?” Eris wondered if he'd want to play with her more now. She was on such a high from her success, Eris really wanted the streak to continue.
