Lottie nearly jumped out of her skin, because the last thing she was expecting was that anybody would hear her. And when she turned to see who was speaking, she got another jolt of electricity shooting through her body, because it was him. Right there. In all his gorgeous, golden, splendid glory. He was beautiful. And he was talking to her.
Oh gods. He was talking to her.
She. Must. Not. Babble.
Lottie was concentrating so hard on not babbling, she forgot to breathe, and it wasn't until she realized she was a little lightheaded that she sucked some air into her lungs. And then she wondered if she should answer him. Or not. It wasn't a question really. But if she talked to him, maybe they'd be able to have a conversation. Then she tried not to hyperventilate at that idea.
She'd never managed to have a conversation with Eros before. She'd seen him. A lot, actually. Though most of the time, Lottie was pretty sure that he wasn't even aware that she was watching him. No, not watching. That made her sound kind of creepy. She just saw him. From behind trees. And marble pillars. And occasionally the curtains in his room. But that had only happened because she'd been playing a game with Harmonia. Most of the time when she saw one of the erotes, it was because she was spending time with her best friend. And she'd always been too shy to say anything to the most beautiful of Harmonia's brothers.
Yet here he was. And he spoke to her. So she should speak back. But not babble. No babbling. Lottie took a breath and said, “Is that supposed to be a tiger or a lion you're riding? I can't tell.”
Oooo, that was good. Or it would be if she didn't know she was blushing like mad. But pink cheeks were still better than a wave of words coming out of her mouth. So Lottie bit her tongue and didn't say anything else. It was so hard!
