Lottie really couldn't argue the fun of having a machine to play with, to try to make it even better. That was half the joy of the car! So she just nodded along with his explanation. And while she was really, really impressed with what he'd done with his motorcycle, she wasn't all that convinced that they were the sort of conveyance for her. She just loved cars. There was an elegance to them that she didn't see when she looked at the bike.
She wasn't going to say that to Hermod though. He seemed really proud of the thing, and she couldn't argue that either. When you put time and effort into something, you should be allowed to be proud of it. Especially when you made brilliant modifications like he had. She might not want a motorcycle for herself, but if she did, she'd want his. As it was.
And why anyone would not want something as fun and exciting as a Harley Davidson motorcycle around sort of boggled her brain. Luckily, Lottie had an ally in her king. Hades liked cars himself, though she wasn't sure if he appreciated them for the speed they could produce like she did. He could be hard to read sometimes, especially when he was doing his I'm-the-stoic-heartless-King-of-the-Underworld bit. Maybe she could ask him to talk to this Heimdal guy, or at least to Odin, kind of king to king, and see if he'd let Hermod have his motorcycles.
Philotes turned at his question to see him pointing into her engine. But she was too far away to see just what he was pointing at. Crossing back over to her Bugatti, she leaned in to get a better view, setting her hand on his arm for balance. “Oh that. Yeah, Bugatti says their parts are so accurately machined that it doesn't need gaskets, but oil just oozes everywhere, and the oil pressure is so low, the valvegear wears out too fast. So I sort of modified some gaskets and put them in there. It does raise the oil pressure some, which means I get more reliable power. I have to watch it though, because the spark plugs are still an issue, they run so hot, you know. I've already knocked a hole in a piston because one blew, and I didn't want the whole engine to go up because there was oil everywhere. This just seemed like a better idea to me. I'm still working on the waterflow issue. If I could get more water to the hot spots to cool them off, that would be ideal, but there aren't any passages between the cylinders. I don't think there's anything I can do about the spark plugs being on the inlet side, though, I think I'm just stuck with them that way.”
There was a heavy sigh for all the things that she still wanted to fix on the beautiful engine. And it was beautiful. It was actually crafted by sculptors. So Lottie wasn't giving up on it until she fixed the things they'd missed and made them better. But that was an ongoing project, and today, she was here to test out the modifications she'd already made. With that in mind, she turned her head and gave Hermod a brilliant smile. “Would you like a ride?”
