“Maybe it is only my opinion,” he said with a shrug, “but perhaps that's what men applaud because that's all they know to applaud. If a woman is good a nothing else, what can you possibly compliment her on... or brag about her to others over?” He shrugged again. “And really, how many of the ladies of Fensalir have husbands or intendeds? Some of them are quite skilled with those strings you claim thwart you.” And the women that were married and of any notoriety were skilled at other things. Idun, Sif and yes, even Frigg all had skills outside of fiber-arts. In fact, it wasn't Frigg's ability to make Odin socks that won him away from her mother and his previous wife into her position as the Alfather's wife, but he'd not mention that.
Loki ran his hand through his hair and looked away for a moment. This was becoming an uncomfortable conversation. It was similar to one he had with Eisa and Einmyria at one point where they were convinced that their broken home would be a deterrent to them finding husbands. Which was ridiculous. They were beautiful, intelligent and strong women. Sure, they may intimidate a lesser man, but those men were not worthy of them to being with then.
“Look,” he said turning back to look at her. Loki sighed and rather than smile at her like he really wanted to, she was smart and beautiful, his face took on a very serious expression. “I'll tell you the same thing I told my daughters and you can take it or leave it. You're not like the others Frigg has under her wing. You are obviously intelligent, you are independent -that much I can gather from seeing what you're doing here, and you are quite attractive. No, you are right, you do not need a man to define who you are, but don't let another woman do that either.” That was a pointed remark directly to Frigg and her forcing of skills on Sigyn that Sigyn obviously had no interest in or adeptness at.
“There is far more to the nine worlds than it what in Frigg's tiny niche. Only you can define who you are and you should be proud of who you are. Don't resign yourself to a fate that is indefinite. Don't sell yourself short and for fuck's sake if a man -suitor, intended or husband- can't appreciate you for who you are then he isn't worth having. Then it's his loss.”
