His eyebrows shot to the top of his head at her mention of not wanting a suitor. Suddenly things got a whole lot clearer to his way of thinking, in that her parents were probably trying to force her into the mold of a normal, mortal woman and not the divine being that she was.
But Cernunnos was careful not to show any sign that he understood, and felt a little sorry for, Rosmerta or her plight. Because he was nearly certain that would earn him nothing but more anger and scorn. Which he understood; nobody in their right minds wanted to be pitied for anything, especially by someone they couldn't really get away from.
"I see," is all he said, though he wanted to dig deeper. "It's not far, at least for me." He allowed that his judgement of distances and sometimes desire for solitude might have other people judging it. "It's about a three-day travel from here, and no, it isn't near farmland. There's a good deal of grazing area nearby, though; my home is near a forest and the only growth there is natural, not agricultural." Then he gave her a genuine smile. "Given that you can travel more quickly than a normal person, I don't imagine it would be that far for you."
A belated thought at the mention of food, and he gently moved the goat out of his lap before standing up. "Come on, let's go and find you something to eat while I take my friends here back to their pens."
