"You should not be out watching a bloodbath." Ninlil sounded disgusted, and she was. For all that there was in the world, Ninlil wanted life and peace. She wanted her sky to be open and filled with gentle breezes and the only embers and sparks should be that for warmth or because of natural reasons. Not a scoured earth because of a battle.
She lifted his chin a little, to look him in the eye. She'd known for awhile now. She could feel the pull. He was her child and so she had to know him through and through.
"Did you have anything to do with this my damu?" Damu was her word for Nergal, it meant child, as did another word, but she saved this one for him. Sometimes she thought she spent too much time coddling Nanna and not enough with Nergal.
So he had his own word.
"I know.. it seems.. fun, but you do realize that these are mortals and their lives are much shorter than ours. Much much shorter."
