Nergal was sitting on a hill watching the chaos he had unleashed. It had been so easy. He had gone wandering and found two chiefs of two different villages. One of the chiefs wanted more land for his people. The other village was very close. Nergal had an idea that he thought sounded like fun. He whispered in the first chief’s ear that the other village had land that was good for farming and families.
That was all it took for the chief to assemble his warriors and attack their neighbors. Nergal may have neglected to tell the first chief that the other village had a stronger group of warriors. The surprise attack did give the first village a slight advantage at first, but quickly the battle turned.
Nergal grinned as he watched the warriors dismember and decapitate their enemies. Each spray of blood left him wanting to see more. The burning village warmed his heart even as it left the people homeless or dead.
He had always felt … Something when he was around fighting. But this… This was just the most amazing feeling he had ever had. He couldn’t wait to share it with Nanna.
He looked up when he heard his mother calling his name. He must be late for dinner. “Mother!” He stood up and waved to her. “I’m over here!” He bet she would love what he had created.
