Lottie listened to the girl try to spin what she said, but it sort of kept getting worse. Friendship knew what she was trying to say, that she was trying to put it to right, but her words insinuated that the Underworld was inferior to Olympus, that it existed only to make the light shine a little brighter on the mountain. And that just wasn't true at all.
“Are you saying that they need each other for balance?” It was the only way that Lottie could justify in her mind why a girl that nice would say things like that. She knew there was a good deal of bias against her siblings and fellow Underworlders, but unless they were trying to be rude, they usually kept it to themselves.
“Y'know what, it doesn't matter. You probably won't ever see the Underworld anyway,” Lottie said with a smile. “But I've found that people are just people, no matter where they come from. Once you get past the surface, we're mostly all the same. Some just have a thicker shell to get through before you get the the all the same part.”
She held out her hand, this time as an offer to take the hand of the other girl. “I have an idea. C'mon.”
