The other girl didn't take her hand. She'd looked at it, but she hadn't taken it. Was it dirty? It might have been since she'd been crawling in the shrubbery. Lottie glanced down quickly to check, but she didn't see anything that looked like it might be offensive. So why not take her hand? Was she one of those Olympians that looked down on Underworlders?
But the girl smiled, and apologized, and explained. So that was nice. Maybe she just didn't know how to greet other people? That seemed sort of unlikley given who her brothers were, and who her mother was. Perhaps she just didn't like touching. Lottie found that thought a little sad, actually. She was such a tactile person, she couldn't imagine not wanting to hug or touch or hold hands with someone.
She didn't want to make her uncomfortable though, so she dropped her hand to the side and nodded as the girl spoke. “I have so many siblings, I actually don't know all of their names,” she admitted. “I mean, I know most of them. But some, like the Keres, we just call them all the Keres, like, as a group. Because there are so many of them. I'm not sure I could handle having half or adopted anythings. My birthday gifts list is already massive.”
Lottie smiled again, to show she definitely wasn't a threat. “And I don't know why anybody would want to hurt your brothers. The world needs love. I mean, as Harmony and Balance, you must know that better than most. Lots of cranky people, not enough happy people. I prefer that people are happy, don't you?”
