Well there wasn't a whole lot she could say to defend herself, was there? The girl had quickly, and correctly, figured out why Philotes was there, and denying it would only make her sound more guilty than she actually was. Maybe not more guilty, just worse guilty, if that made sense. There was only a little wiggle room here, and really, Lottie sucked at dissembling.
“They're pretty,” she admitted with a helpless shrug. “And I sort of stand out on Olympus so...” Lottie felt the heat rising in her cheeks, and the words rising in her throat. She struggled to keep both in check. And failed.
“It's sort of hard to be cool and casual when you stand out and you trip on things all the time, and they'd look at me and I'd probably just melt into a puddle of absolute humiliation if they did, and really I just wanted to look at them with their wings out because their wings are so pretty, I mean, my family, some of them have wings, but they're all dark, which is really pretty, especially like Zelos' because they have this little bit of color when the sun hits them just right, but it's not the same as the erotes' because they're so bright and beautiful and there's one that's got these gold tints that are just breathtaking and of course they're naked which sort of makes my chest feel tight but I'm not doing anything perverted or anything while I watch them, I swear, I just... wanted to see them.”
Finally pausing for a much needed breath, Lottie followed it with a gasped question. “You're their sister? So... are you Peitho?”
