We All Have Our Burdens To Bear [one day after Aegir's feast] (tag: Loki)
The Valfather felt old. Older than he had ever felt in his already long life. Too much sorrow was weighing heavy upon his heart. He had lost not one, but two sons, one a favored among his children. Now, he was about to lose someone else, someone who was once more than a friend. His blood-brother. The end of the line had come for Loki.
Aegir's feast had not been the happy occasion all had anticipated it to be. It had been with great reluctance that Odin had offered Vidar's seat to Loki, but not for the reasons most would probably think. He held no real grudge toward Loki for the loss of his sons. It was their wyrd, and there would have been no changing it. With what the Volvas had told him, Odin had a pretty good idea what all this was leading up to. He didn't know exactly how or when, but he did know Loki was going to be captured. Probably sooner than later.
And there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Odin felt an urge to try to tell Loki that. He doubted the Trickster could possibly understand, but he needed to speak before it was too late. He knew where Loki had gone; Hugin had informed the Alfather earlier in the evening. Now, as night was about to fall, Odin stood a visible distance from the house Loki had built. Just stood, and waited, his battered floppy hat pulled low over his missing eye. He knew Loki would be able to see him through all those windows. He wanted to pose no threat, and allow the Trickster to make the first move.
