Zeus had been about to say that Kratos misunderstood what he had meant by defense, but Kratos kept speaking. It was pleasing that Styx' son did see other sides of his aspect other than just physical strength. He was less pleased, though, at the comment about his kingship. His eyes didn't narrow, but for a split second, there may have been electricity to the air to indicate his displeasure.
He was not foolish enough to think that this would be entirely sorted out today. He needed to know their personal strengths and preferences. That much he got from them, well, sort of. Now the King needed to decide how to best utilize their talents. That would require input from them as well as his own opinions on the matter.
“This matter is going to require considerable thought on all our parts, To jump to hastily to a conclusion as far as what duties in my retinue would suit you best benefits no one.” Waving a finger, he continued, “I want all of you to think on what duties you would like to have, and I will consider as well where I think you would fit. We will come back together to council in a week to discuss it.”
Turning his head back to Kratos, he added, “As far as the matter concerning if I am the kind of King you thought I was...” Zeus paused, letting it hang in the air. A smirk of mild amusement crossed his face. While he didn't particularly like to have his motives called into question, if he got defensive too quickly, it would backpedal over any progress made today. “We shall have to see, won't we?”
Then he waved his hand, “you may go.” There were other things to tend to and he needed time to process the information completely.
