The king did not seem angry. That was a good start. Part of Zelos had been afraid that they had done something wrong already. He did not want to jeopardize their new start before it even happened.
New start. That was what Styx had told him was happening. The four of them would be getting a new start on Olympus. She was never very clear on what would happen to her, but he assumed they would still see her sometimes. They were still family and nothing would change that. Not even if they never returned to the Underworld.
He stood when Zeus told them they could do so. He kept his eyes on the new king as he paced in front of them. He was speaking of order, duties and responsibilities. He could appreciate Zeus’ desire for those things. They were important after such a world changing war. But that respect was threatened briefly when Zeus paused in front of Kray. It was very brief, but he must have noticed his brother looking for exits. Kray always looked for ways to keep them safe.
“Our interests, my lord?” he repeated, giving himself another moment to gather his thoughts. He knew he would be speaking not only for himself, but also for his siblings. “Our main interest is that we not be separated. The four of us, we are stronger together. I think we could all be an asset to your retinue.”
