"Yeah, tried that, remember?" Maybe Bast wouldn't, actually. Had she even been around yet when Ahti's perceived ostrication from the pantheon occurred? Ahti wasn't sure, but if she had, she would have been just a child. Regardless, the fact remained that she had tried. Chaos was a strange brew, and she had spent, or rather, wasted, a great deal of time and energy in trying to help people. And if something didn't go quite as planned, or as her benefactors thought it should, then it was all her fault. Mortals didn't always know what was best for them, but they couldn't see that. "No one ever appreciated it, so why should I bother?"
Ahti could no longer remember when she wasn't viewed upon with fear. For that, she still blamed Set. Had to go and kill his brother, making disorder even more suspicious than it had been before. As aspects went , those that held theirs, like Ahti and Set, were not the type one typically invited to celebrations. Joy and light were all the world wanted. How boring.
"At least I have a focus." It occurred to Ahti that Bast hadn't really been all that upset until she prodded her about her duties. Which led to the thought that perhaps one less being protecting the kings might actually help move things along. Political infrations were right up there on her list of entertaining past times. "Look what you just did. Have you ever felt this kind of satisfaction in protecting a king? Talk about wasting talents."
