As much as she spoke English with a mostly softened New York accent, with some sounds betraying her time in Seattle, she could very much turn up the more Spanish accent that was more reminiscent of her grandmother, or the affectation Maria had picked up from her. Learning Spanish properly had only strengthened the skill. She smiled and shrugged happily when Jase laughed and she bobbed a ridiculous and uneven curtsey. "Formal isn't my preference," she said. "But I struggle to stop all the language nerdery for too long!"

She looked him up and down, noting the mustard, and the oil stains on his pants and then down at her own dress. "Nice, but it's not really my style," she said with a little raise of her eyebrow. She giggled at his sharing a confidence and nodded. "I'll pass then. If you happen to run into my brother's food it's good, but you need to beware the unusual combinations," she said, getting close enough to whisper the last part right back, hand touching his arm to keep her where she wanted and not too close.

The young woman was entertaining, and Jase found himself laughing as they shared their own secrets about their sibling's cooking abilities. Her brother however sounded far more interesting, and now he was curious about these unusual combinations. "You have to tell me more," he whispered to her, letting his cobalt blue eyes meet her gaze. "What sort of unusual combinations? Anything that sounds particularly gross but tastes absolutely delicious?"

Tapping her lower lip Fina thought about the things Gael had fed her over the last few months. "Okay so he likes to combine sweet and savoury in unusual ways, like I said. But also cuisines in ways I don't expect and sometimes taste great, but my mind rebels at the description," she said, talking animatedly with her hands. Clearly she adored Gael and his experiments, but she was also somewhat exasperated by them. "The chicken and peach dishes just sound wrong in my head but the one with jalapeños was actually really good, and the beef wellington thing with the sweet chilli and wine sauce was great, but I absolutely don't encourage any of his experiments," she said. "They're such a bad idea," she said, giving Jase the look of siblings everywhere who are enjoying poking fun at each other. She could admit that some of the experiments did work, just she wasn't really going to admit that to Gael without a heavy dose of teasing. "Although, I'm not sure either Thailand or Mexico are going to forgive him for the red curry tacos."

A warm laugh left Jase, he wanted to meet this woman's brother. He just shook his head a bit, as she gave him that look. He knew her pain, he had been his sister's test dummy while she learned to cook. There had been far too many dishes that had ended up in the trash instead of actually being ate. "It sounds like you're pretty supportive, if you've been around for that many failed concoctions," he pointed out, chuckling. "I think the worst was my sister's attempt at making lasagna, but she didn't cook the noodles before hand." His eyes grew comically larger, chuckling as he remembered the crunch. "It was awful."

With a slightly over-dramatic sigh Fina rolled her eyes. "Problem is he's actually a better cook than me, and has more free time, so I keep agreeing to take leftovers," she admitted. She could cook, certainly, her dad wouldn't have let her leave for college without the skills, but she was far more functional about it than taking joy in it. She frowned slightly at the description of the lasagne. "I'm guessing she didn't cook it long enough to also cook the noodles?" She asked, face screwed up in a way that said she realised how unfortunate that was. She'd never actually cooked the dish herself, but baked pasta of other types she had done, and she thought it didn't always need cooking before. "I don't want crunchy pasta," she said and shook her head. "Question is, do you cook? Could you give advice? "

Jase was enjoying himself, and he gave a chuckle at her question on if he could cook. "I cannot," he admitted with an easy shrug. "I can do a few things on the grill, but actual cooking and I'm out." It seemed though that the pair conspiring against their siblings had caused Jase's sister to find him in the crowd. He watched her wave him over, and his attention slid back to the woman at his side. "It was good talking to you, it looks like I'm being summoned however. Delicious whip," he told her, before he was moving to head into the crowd towards the young blonde woman that was waving him down.
