Joe resisted turning to look at her as she left, the headache he'd felt building pulsing through his skull. His past lives had always been very firmly in the past, something to learn from or even draw strength from, and yet that concept had been blown apart by the petite figure of his... sister? Former sister? He normally saved his identity crises for when he was alone, not surrounded by a community trying to enjoy their day.
He rubbed at his forehead, trying to ease the stress he felt gathering there. The lingering taste of vomit in his mouth didn't help. He was going to end up breaking that woman's heart all over again, no matter what he did. That was just the way fate worked for him.
