Good news!
The Valentine's round will be happening!
I need to arrange all the match-ups -- this is the part that's like one of those logic puzzles, where A can't sit next to B and C needs a seat at the end of the table and F won't eat anything with hazelnuts in it. Except with fandoms. But I should be able to send out assignments tonight or tomorrow.
In the meantime, here's a quick FAQ for the getting-my-assignment phase.
Q: Only one of the fandoms my recipient listed is something I know, and I don't even like half the pairings in there!
I'm sorry you didn't get more overlap! It was pretty tricky to try to match things up so that everyone had something in their requests that was plausible with their offers. Please do your best with what you have, if possible. If you absolutely can't work with anything you've gotten, email or PM me and I'll try to find you something else.
Q: One of the fandoms my recipient listed is something I didn't offer, but I do know it, and I'd rather write/draw that. Is that okay?
Absolutely! As long as you're producing something from your recipient's request list, feel free to do whichever one strikes your fancy.
Q: I'm an artist and my recipient's details make it look like she's expecting fic. What do I do?
Don't panic! It's possible for anyone to receive either fic or art, and everyone should be aware of that. If you're stuck for ideas and want some suggestions to help you out, email or PM me and I'll contact your recipient. Please don't contact your recipient directly.
Q: I can't talk about what I'm working on? Yikes! What about my beta?
Of course you can talk to your beta about your piece! Just don't post about it in public, and don't tell your recipient. ...Hopefully your recipient and your regular beta are different people. ^_~
Q: My dog just died/my grandmother's in the hospital/I have the flu/I have a midterm/I have writer's block and I need to drop out!
Please tell me as soon as possible! I'll need to re-assign your recipient to a pinch-hitter, and it's less stressful for everyone if we have more time to work with. I know emergencies happen, and sometimes things fall through at the last minute, but please give me as much notice as you can.
Q: My recipient listed two/three/ten pairings that look exciting to me. Can I make something for both/several/all of them? (yes, somebody would ask.)
I sure won't stop you! Do keep in mind that the ideal here is quality, not quantity; I'd rather see you produce one piece you're really proud of than five that are mediocre. But if you have time and inspiration to come up with more than one polished piece? I'm sure nobody will complain.
Q: I'm done early! Can I post now?
By all means! The deadline is February 14, but you're welcome to post whenever you're done. I know it's tough to have to sit on a finished piece and not show it to anyone. ^^
Q: I need extra time, but I'm still planning to finish! Can I post late?
If you need to, yes. Please let me know you're going to be late, so I don't think you've just defaulted, but posting a few days late is much better than not posting at all.
