[admin] New round?
Hi there, guys!

Thank you, first off, to everyone who participated in the Cliche Round -- I had a lot of fun with it, and I hope you did, too. (I'll try to pull together a master list of all the pieces completed for it pretty soon.)

Right now, I'd like to gauge interest in the next round -- nothing happening too soon, obviously, with NaNo taking a lot of people's time right now, and then Yuletide and a lot of real-life craziness like assorted holidays, college semesters ending, etc, in December. Probably any round that opened in the near future would have a deadline in late January, or possibly even in February, depending on how quickly we got off the ground. (Valentine's Day, maybe?)

So here's what I'd like to know -- if you're interested in a new round, what format would make you most excited to be involved? Do you have any thoughts on what you'd like to see here in the future?

Let me know! I'm looking forward to running this challenge again. ^_^

I like this idea.

Although I know it's far more work for you, I also liked the format that you used for the fall 2006 round on LJ (also used for [info]ff_exchange this past spring) - where we all submit a list of "willing to write" along with three requests, and are matched up with someone else.

The hardest part about the ficathon format, a la FF Exchange, is being able to match people up -- especially in a case like this, where I want to encourage this comm to be panfandom. (I imagine the FFEX mods already had headaches enough trying to match people, out of a set of a dozen canons to choose from.) It's a neat format, definitely! And I'd like to find a way to do it. But I'd probably need to find ways to restrict it so that it was possible to make matches in the first place.

...and figure out what to do with the 10% of people who defaulted, which seems to be about the minimum in challenges, and which is a big problem when each person is set to receive only one thing from one other person. >->

But I'd totally like to do it!
...Maybe there should be a minimum number of offered fandoms? "you must offer to write/draw and be willing to receive at least four fandoms in your signup," that sort of thing? That would at least help me get started with the matching process.

Do you think that would help?

I think that definitely could help! But we don't want to overload you, at all, so another option might be better overall :)

Maybe have a place in the signup to note if you're willing to pinch-hit?

I mean, I know I'm one of the more difficult people to match, in the sense that I really only play in FF fandom. (On the other hand, I can play in *every* FF fandom, but I'm not sure that makes it any easier!)

*grin* More than you might think! In just about every challenge I've run/played in for the past year or so, FF7 has been one of the most popular fandoms participating, and often FF12 has been pretty well-represented, too. So a broad spectrum of FF to choose from? Not too hard to match up. ^^

...Maybe I'll just need to have a sort of disclaimer in it, to note that if people requested only really obscure fandoms, I might -- if I can't make a match for them -- have to ask them to add to their offering/request lists?

That seems very reasonable :)
