Who: Charlie & Future!Peter
Where: Burnt Toast Diner
When: TIME TRAVEL! October 9th, 2006. 2pm
Rating: PG13?
When Charlie had left Hiro that morning, she had been completely prepared for what she thought would happen. It wasn't the best scenario, but it was the one that had to happen. If Hiro spent his whole life trying to protect her, he could never save the world. It was his destiny to save the world, hers was to die for it. She was okay with that... well, as okay as anyone who was about to be brutally murdered could be. She was scared, but she kept up the facade all day. She was meeting a Hiro who didn't know her, a Hiro who fell so in love with her that he jumped to the past just to be with her. He wasn't the Hiro she had just left, but she loved him anyway.
Hiro hadn't told her when or how she would die. He didn't tell her what room or which customer did it. All she knew is that at some point before the end of her shift, she was going to die. So all Charlie could do was go through the day as if it were normal. She didn't change her routine, she didn't peek around every corner. She was expecting her death, but not waiting for it. What she wasn't expecting, however, was to be pulled out of the way before Sylar walked through the door of the storage room.
Charlie had no idea that the future, saved a million times by Hiro and his peers, had become exactly what he was trying to stop. People with abilities were shunned, tracked like animals, it was a different person in power, but it was the same thing. And Hiro, without powers, was feeling more and more useless, feeling more and more regret. If he didn't have incentive to keep fighting, to get back his powers, it was likely there was going to be no end to this future.
It wasn't Sylar who grabbed Charlie, made her heart drop into her stomach and her eyes widen with the certainty that she was going to die right this moment.
