Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Matt Parkman and Daphne Millbrook; possibly Peter or Nathan by phone later on
When: Early morning
Where: Their apartment in New York
What: Matt has a rude awakening.
Open: 'Fraid not
Rating: PG - even Daphne doesn't have time for anything else.

Matt woke up at his kitchen table. He was pretty sure that wasn't where he went to sleep, and he didn't think he was the kind of guy who tended to nod off at kitchen tables in general. All of that led him to conclude that only one thing could have happened: He'd had another Pictionary moment.

The drawing in front of him was a good clue, too.

He picked it up and stood, wiping the sleep from his eyes with the back of one hand. He could see he'd drawn something round, maybe a face, maybe something else. To be honest, he didn't really want to see it clearly. He hadn't drawn anything in months. That was a good thing

The clock on the microwave was much easier to see, and quite frankly more interesting, especially when he saw it switch from 6:59 to 7:00. Putting down the drawing, he tiptoed into the bedroom.

Daphne was holding a pillow, which she must have blissfully substituted for Matt when the vision pulled him out of bed. Matt smiled and leaned over her to kiss one angelic cheek. "Wake up, sweetheart. You're going to be late." When she moaned a little, he chuckled. "Yes, even you."

He promised to put coffee on and wandered back out to the kitchen. Awake is awake, no matter where you do it, and try as he might, Matt couldn't help but see the drawing clearly now. And what he saw dragged not just him but his whole life to a sudden halt.

He'd drawn the Hunter.

Matt smiled down at her. Daphne was so bright, so full of dreams, as though she'd missed her chance to dream earlier in live and was trying desperately to make up for lost time. "Someday we'll go all around the world, just you and me," he said warmly. "I promise you."

"But for now... you'll thank me for this later!" He grinned, gave her a huge kiss, and shoved her playfully backward and out of his arms. "Love you!"

"Someday better come quick if the future you saw is even a tiny bit right." The idea of being a mother sometime soon was frightening. Especially being a mother to a girl she didn't give birth too. But Daphne couldn't, and wouldn't, deny that the prospect of actually having a family with Matt was enticing. To settle down and get married instead of just playing house like they'd been doing practically since the day they met. But if he wanted to go on a trip around the world just the two of them, it was going to have to happen soon before they actually had that family.

Daphne nearly tripped over the table when Matt pushed her... her own fault, not his. She was used to nearly breaking her neck. Sometimes she wasn't the most graceful of women. She gave Matt a bit of a pout, but grabbed her jacket and pulled open the door. "Love you, too." It was half grumbled, but completely heartfelt as she closed the door behind her.
