Jaime had heard the approach, though she hadn’t looked to see who it was. When he spoke, she was a little surprised it wasn’t … well, one of the people she assumed it would be. She’d had a mental list of people who would probably find her up here, but Relic hadn’t been anywhere near that list.
“No. I’d just run away before I jumped. Makes more sense,” she pointed out. It wasn’t like she wanted to die to escape anything; she was just having trouble acclimating to her new position in life. “But if you’d like to jump, I can get out of your way,” she graciously offered before she glanced over to him.
Then again, he could probably just command the earth to catch him or something and nothing would happen if he did jump. In that same vein, she could make the ocean landing gentler for herself, or create a strong enough wind to slow her descent. Her eyes lingered briefly on his visible marks, one hand lifting slightly past her own semi-visible one so her fingers could curl around the well-worn beads of her necklace.
“How are you today?” She continued as if there had been no japes about killing herself.
