Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!50 pts (plot), !plot : all your fears, angel, buffy summers

Who: Buffy and Angelus.
What: Going after his favorite target, because Angelus is kinda predictable like that.
Where: Buffy's apartment.
When: Backdated a couple days.
Warnings: TBD but probably violence, language, and other things evil vampire sociopaths like to do.

Angelus knew where Buffy was. He always knew, because Angel always knew. For years, he hadn't been able to do anything about it, thanks to his fangless alter ego holding him hostage inside his own body -- and, of course, getting tied up with Angel's band of simpering idiots in LA the last time he'd been let loose -- but now, he finally had the chance. And patience really was a virtue, because now he had more ammunition than ever. If it was true the Senior Partners had sent them here, they'd done Angelus a major favor, taking Buffy from years earlier. There was so much she didn't know about Angel yet, so much he hadn't told her, insisting in his own head that he was protecting her. But, in truth, he was just protecting himself. Poor, pathetic little Angel couldn't bear to see the look in Buffy's eyes when she found out what he'd done.

Too bad he was gone now. Oh, sure, he'd be watching all of this from somewhere, just as Angelus had watched everything when he was the one lying dormant. But Angel wasn't calling the shots anymore, and he definitely wasn't going to like what he saw.

Following Buffy's scent, Angelus tracked her quickly to her apartment. She wasn't hiding, which didn't surprise him: it wasn't in her nature, as a Slayer or as a woman who cared about the soul that usually inhabited his body. If he'd given her more time, she probably would have come to him, but he'd waited long enough for this opportunity. On the off chance that whatever had gotten rid of Angel's soul decided to put it back, he had to make this moment count.

Angel already had an invite to her apartment, so Angelus didn't have to worry about that. He would have picked the lock on her door, but he figured there was no point in bothering with subtlety. If Buffy appreciated that kind of thing, she wouldn't have spent as much time in bed with Spike as she had. (Or having crazy superpowered sky sex with Angel, although that would be news to this version of Buffy.) Clearly, she preferred things over the top and dramatic.

With one swift kick, Angelus knocked the door off its hinges and walked inside the apartment. "Hi honey, I'm home. ...Was that too much of a cliche?" He shrugged a little. "Actually, I'm okay with it."

Angelus hadn't really stopped to think about how he'd gotten control of his body back. He shared Angel's memories, so he knew it hadn't been brought on by a sexual encounter, although he'd tried to convince Buffy that it was. In fact, it hadn't been perfect happiness at all, or even an illusion of it. If anything, it had been perfect terror. He had to assume magic played a role, but not the kind that had been used on him in LA a few years ago. It felt different. Angel was still in there, closer than usual. Like he could get control back if he just tried hard enough. Which would have freaked Angelus out if he thought the guy was strong enough to manage that.

Although, being around Buffy might've been a mistake, because Angel definitely wanted control of his body back now. He was boiling up inside, but Angelus pushed him back down.

"Oh, no, I got that. Your signals were pretty clear." He stepped inside the apartment, but didn't advance any further on Buffy. He wasn't really here to hurt her, anyway, at least not physically. The emotional damage was far more satisfying.

"Any luck finding Glinda the Good Witch? Or are you still too busy trying to figure out how Angel misplaced his soul to begin with? Hey, I barely get the rules anymore either. Last time you two lovebirds got it on, I wasn't even allowed out of my cage. And I know for a fact he was happy enough. Does that seem fair to you? Twilight got to have all my fun. Oh, but I guess Angel hasn't told you about that yet, huh?"

Buffy was determined not to let Angelus get to her. It wasn't really him. He'd be going back in his cage once they could figure all of this out. He didn't have perfect happiness, there was no way. Buffy had to believe that whatever was affecting Angel was directly related to what was affecting all of them. It wasn't real, and that meant that Angelus wouldn't be out to play for long. She was willing to bet that he knew that too. And then it'd be back into his box.

She stood up, still staying where she was at the moment, but now she was facing him. She wanted to make sure he wasn't going to try anything, but she didn't plan on getting closer unless she had to. This was not the worst thing that could happen. She could handle Angelus, or whatever version of him this was. Angel had been afraid he would get out, this had to be what it was. They would not be ruled by their fears. They couldn't be. Buffy knew they had to fight. Angel knew that too, deep down, she was sure.

She crossed her arms, and studied him with a glare. She decided to ignore his comment about Willow. Willow had been here, but Buffy didn't know where she was now. And she didn't know how to find her. They just had to try and wait this out or something. They could do that, couldn't they? She was at least willing to try.

"Angel didn't misplace his soul, he's still there." Buffy told him, with confidence. "And what are you even talking about?" Something from the future, probably. And he could have easily been lying. Angelus did like to twist words around. She was all too familiar with that. But she was hardly the seventeen year old girl she'd once seen, when he'd come out the first time. There was no point in re-ensouling Angel now, because he hadn't really lost it.
