Who: Buffy and Angelus.
What: Going after his favorite target, because Angelus is kinda predictable like that.
Where: Buffy's apartment.
When: Backdated a couple days.
Warnings: TBD but probably violence, language, and other things evil vampire sociopaths like to do.
Angelus knew where Buffy was. He always knew, because Angel always knew. For years, he hadn't been able to do anything about it, thanks to his fangless alter ego holding him hostage inside his own body -- and, of course, getting tied up with Angel's band of simpering idiots in LA the last time he'd been let loose -- but now, he finally had the chance. And patience really was a virtue, because now he had more ammunition than ever. If it was true the Senior Partners had sent them here, they'd done Angelus a major favor, taking Buffy from years earlier. There was so much she didn't know about Angel yet, so much he hadn't told her, insisting in his own head that he was protecting her. But, in truth, he was just protecting himself. Poor, pathetic little Angel couldn't bear to see the look in Buffy's eyes when she found out what he'd done.
Too bad he was gone now. Oh, sure, he'd be watching all of this from somewhere, just as Angelus had watched everything when he was the one lying dormant. But Angel wasn't calling the shots anymore, and he definitely wasn't going to like what he saw.
Following Buffy's scent, Angelus tracked her quickly to her apartment. She wasn't hiding, which didn't surprise him: it wasn't in her nature, as a Slayer or as a woman who cared about the soul that usually inhabited his body. If he'd given her more time, she probably would have come to him, but he'd waited long enough for this opportunity. On the off chance that whatever had gotten rid of Angel's soul decided to put it back, he had to make this moment count.
Angel already had an invite to her apartment, so Angelus didn't have to worry about that. He would have picked the lock on her door, but he figured there was no point in bothering with subtlety. If Buffy appreciated that kind of thing, she wouldn't have spent as much time in bed with Spike as she had. (Or having crazy superpowered sky sex with Angel, although that would be news to this version of Buffy.) Clearly, she preferred things over the top and dramatic.
With one swift kick, Angelus knocked the door off its hinges and walked inside the apartment. "Hi honey, I'm home. ...Was that too much of a cliche?" He shrugged a little. "Actually, I'm okay with it."
