No one was listening to her, and that annoyed Buffy a lot. She knew what she was talking about. She'd been saving this world for a long time now. Being ten years in the future had thrown her off, sure, but she knew a hell dimension when she saw one. She'd been to one herself. It had been different than this, but she'd sensed something was off from the moment she'd woken up there. It was her job to get everyone back where they belonged safely, but she didn't know how to do that, just yet.

Maybe there was a chance Angel was here. That would definitely help things. Angel knew LA, it was his city. This was a different version of it, but he could still be a big help. But she couldn't reach him. Not at all. That wasn't good. It seemed like Buffy was on her own for now, and she was trying to warn people but they wouldn't listen. Two teenagers insisted on leaving the apartments, despite her protests. They were maybe Dawn's age. She didn't want anything terrible to happen to them. So Buffy followed them.

It wasn't long before they ran into trouble. A crazed vampire had grabbed the redheaded girl, biting deep into her neck. Buffy knew the teenage boy wouldn't be able to do anything. She silently cursed and broke a piece of discarded wood to use as a stake. She ran to the trio, and yanked the vampire off the redhead, who fell to the ground bleeding from her neck. "Put pressure on it." She warned the boy, and proceeded to take care of the vampire. Clearly he was new, because he stood no chance against the Slayer. She had him staked in under two minutes, and he exploded into a pile of dust.

"It is not safe out here at night, now come on...let's get back to the apartments." Maybe next time, they'd listen to her. Lydia would probably be fine. The vampire didn't get to drink much, still...it'd be a nasty wound for at least a few days.

Stiles wasn't really himself today. It was sinking in now alone he was, how cut off from his family and most of his friends. It was sinking in that it was possible he was in a very bad place. He didn't want to be there, he didn't want to attend to it. He wanted to get back to where he belonged. He hadn't wanted to hear Lydia's words, the the witch's or the Slayers. He was scared and he saw no reason to push that down and push on. He just wanted to go home.

Lydia was with him and, for her sake and his, he did his best to keep his head. He was creeped out beyond belief by the place. It didn't feel like the LA he'd visited on school trips. He couldn't even say why but something was off.

He was so lost in thoughts of his destination he had no idea he was being followed and less idea of the thing that was about to happen. Lydia was down before he was even aware she'd moved and he was down beside her with a startled why. A blonde girl (the Slayer?) was barking an order and, in horror, he obeyed. With no time to do anything else he covered the wound with his hands and pressed in muttering "Oh God," over and over, his heart in his throat. He didn't move at Buffy's invitation, frozen in his task.

Lydia didn't really know what to do, except to go with Stiles. She wanted to make sure that he would be okay. And it was better for them to be together than to be on their own. They didn't really know what was happening here, or if they could get home at all. She hoped they could, and she wanted to make sure Stiles was alright. But they'd run into trouble so fast. She'd been grabbed before she had a chance to do anything.

And then Lydia was on the ground, and Buffy was staking the vampire. Damn. Lydia was really out of it, so surely she didn't just see what she thought she had. Right?

Buffy looked around to make sure there was nothing else in the area that could be a threat. She needed to get them back to the apartments. They'd all be safer there. "Can you carry her?" She asked Stiles. "Or can she walk?" Buffy could probably carry the girl if necessary. They were about the same size, but Buffy was much stronger than she looked. These kids weren't even that much younger than her.

Stiles doubted it was as simple as catching a bus but he was willing to try, had to try. People kept talking about Hell and he was afraid to believe it. That wasn't how it was supposed to be. He was meant to be at home, waiting for his dad to come home from work, cooking something scary and filmy, watching some banality on television. He wanted to talk to Deaton. He wanted to ask him if it had anything to do with the darkness about his heart. He wanted to ask if they'd done this?

"I can't carry her and keep up the pressure. I need your help," Stiles said, looking up at Buffy. They needed to get Lydia inside but he had a bigger concern. It wasn't the existence of vampires that freaked him out, not now. It wasn't even the thought of Hell in this moment.

"Will she... will she be one now?" he tried to whisper.

Buffy nodded. Lydia was going to be alright. The vampire had barely had a chance to do anything to her. It was lucky Buffy had been there when she did. She was glad she followed the teens, no matter how uncool they might have thought it was. She gently lifted up Lydia. It probably looked strange for someone as small as Buffy to be able to carry another person, but it was okay. She was very strong.

"Just try to keep pressure on the wound, but it should stop bleeding soon. Your friend will be okay." She wouldn't have been, and neither would the boy, if Buffy had arrived much later. But there was no reason to think like that. They weren't far from the apartments, and they could get her inside. She'd be alright with fluids and rest.

"No." Buffy shook her head, not surprised Stiles was worried about that. "You can't become a vampire by just being bitten. She would have had to have some of his blood too. She's going to be just fine. I promise." There was something about Lydia though, Buffy couldn't figure it out. She just didn't think the girl was completely human. She also didn't think she was evil, so that was a good thing.

"Come on, the sooner we're inside...the better." She said, walking, but keeping the same pace as Stiles so he could hold pressure on the wound.
