Entry tags:!50 pts (plot), !plot : all your fears, emma swan, lindsey mcdonald

Who: Lindsey McDonald and OPEN
Where: Outside apartments
When: Sunday afternoon
Warnings: Self harm on an epic scale, probably language
Status: Open

Lindsey had become aware of the messages his evil hand had been sending. The thing about it was, he and Angel had killed Bradley Scott, thus severing the relationship the hand had with its former owner. For nearly ten years, Lindsey had lived with his transplanted hand without incident, but in recent weeks, he'd had little or no control over the hand at the end of his right arm.

He knew his situation was unique, no one else would have any insight. No one else had ever received a hand transplant before. He didn't even bother to post on the network, no one could help him anyway. No one would be willing to help him do what he knew he had to do.

He carried the knife outside. He didn't want the blood all over his apartment. He didn't think his room mate would appreciate that either. He found a somewhat secluded spot, away from the majority of the foot traffic. He tied his arm down, tied it off with a tourniquet, and he raised the knife, intent on removing the apparently sentient limb from his body.

He knew of no other option, except killing himself. It might come to that, but he had to try this first. He grunted and grit his teeth, determined to keep quiet and not draw attention to himself.

Emma didn't know what was going on. She was having huge issues with whatever it was. She kept seeing Henry in trouble, or dead. He was in Neverland, and she couldn't get to him, as much as she wanted to. It seemed like there was nothing she could do. And she really hated that. She hated being here, even though Neal was here and things were okay with him. They needed to get to their son.

Things had just escalated. Emma didn't know what she was going to do. She tried everything she could think of to leave. But even if she could leave here, that didn't mean she could get to Neverland. She really didn't know what to do. So she was doing what she could to fight. Henry wasn't in danger. Well, he might have been...but what she was seeing was not real. Emma knew that, deep down.

She was out walking, and she happened to pass by where Lindsey was. She saw him raising the knife, and her eyes widened. "What the hell are you doing?" Had he really been driven so far? This was more than a little extreme. Emma put her hands up, but stepped closer. "You...don't want to do that."

"You have no idea." Lindsey's hand twitched, and the fingers curled into a fist. He shifted his eyes to look at Emma, but kept the knife poised and ready to start the process he felt certain he had to do.

"I can't live with this murderous hand any more." He'd lost it once, he could live without it again. No big deal. He'd make the sacrifice. He had to.

"Just keep walking, this is none of your business."

"I can't do that." Emma shook her head, moving a bit closer. She could not just stand here and watch as someone cut their own hand off. She had to try and help, if she could. She was the savior, she helped save Storybrooke and maybe she could save people here too. She just didn't know how to talk him down. This hand thing...it had to be part of what was going on. And there had to be a way to make him see that, and to want to fight.

"Think about what you're doing, it's your hand. We don't know if there is a doctor here who can treat a severed limb." Or if there was a doctor there at all, for that matter. And they didn't know if they could trust the hospital here. This was not a good place to be. It was a literal Hell.

"I'm not going anywhere until you put that knife down and talk to me about this." Emma said, gently. She moved closer so now she was only a few feet away from Lindsey now. "I know you feel like you have to do this, but there must be another way."

Lindsey shook his head, and his bangs fell into his eyes. "It's not my hand. It's Bradley's hand, and he's come back for it. I'm going to give it to him." Lindsey moved the knife to his skin, tracing the arc of the scar that circles just above his wrist.

"You don't understand. You don't know what it's like. He wants his hand back. I'm going to give it to him." He raised the knife again, his eyes dark and focused.

"It's your hand now." Emma told him. She didn't know who Bradley was, or what that story was...but it didn't matter. "You can't let whatever this is control you." She knew that was easier said than done. She'd been going through hell seeing Henry since they'd all ended up here, but she was convinced it wasn't real. Couldn't be real.

"What you're about to do is a very permanent solution to a temporary problem." She warned. She could not just watch this happen. This guy cutting off his hand... No. Wasn't going to happen. "Just take it easy, we will find another way. That's your hand. Bradley can't control it. He can't control you."

"You have no idea what you're talking about." Lindsey knew if that hand wasn't tied down, it would be using the knife to kill him once and for all. He could feel its murderous desires.

"I'm the one who has to live with this. It's my choice to make it stop. I have to make it stop."

"And I'm telling you we can figure something else out." Emma said. "Isn't it at least worth trying?" She asked. "It's your hand." And they didn't even know if anyone here would be able to treat him. So this was a really extreme option, and she hoped he would listen to her.

"Come on, let's talk about this. It's probably not even...look, something is affecting all of us. This is probably part of that."

"If I don't," Lindsey said, his voice turning desperate, "he'll kill someone." Lindsey brought the knife down, but jerked his hand at the last second to drive the knife into a tree truck instead of his hand. "I can't live with that." Lindsey shook his head. "I can't let him hurt anyone else."

"We are going to figure this out." Emma told him again. She didn't know how, but they would. What was happening to Lindsey right now, might not even be real. Something was really playing with all of them, and enjoying it. "We can beat this, just have to show them we're stronger." She said. She hoped it was something they could do. All of them.

"Let's go back to the apartments. It's going to be alright. He's not going to kill anyone." Emma had faced a dragon before. An evil hand shouldn't be a problem, if necessary.

Lindsey shook his head. "You don't know that. You don't know." He glanced down at the hand. He was losing blood, from the tourniquet around his upper arm. He needed to make a decision, and fast.

"Don't blame me, then, if you end up getting hurt." He'd go inside with her now, and the moment he had a chance to do it again, he'd find a quieter place, where he wouldn't be disturbed, to finish the job. He had to.
