I can't believe that this doesn't have a single comment yet! I read it last night and thought about it all morning as well. I found it an excellent read, despite the almost-depressing situation.

I like that we're introduced to the situation with a mild sense of 'disconnect', as though things have shifted, but not noticeably so. Then, as the story progresses and we realize just what's happening, we're still not sure... but I for one found that the realization brought with it a very tangible feeling of dread.

Harry grips Malfoy's left arm, hard, and leans in close. "Didn't you hear her? We may be the only two people capable of finding out what's going on."

The loss really gets bigger with the Galleons and OMG the wands! and then owls/letters.... and Quidditch!
So so soooo sad but in a way, maybe it's a good thing, for them.

I'm sorry it took so long for me to get back to you! The story is also being posted on LJ, and I was under the impression that it was *only* being posted there. Hence all the anonymous-y stuff.

Making the ending sort of open in a way - they *might* have a good life! - is what allowed me to write this story. I tend to write stories that have very neat, happy endings, so I had to give the main characters that ray of hope at the end...
