I love this story for the Dog Whisperer cameo alone! Loved the show. My friend and I are still quoting "No touch, no talk, no eyecontact" at each other. ^-^

Oh, yeah, loved the rest of the story, too. Very canon Draco, I thought. It was hilarious and so true to his character that he was outraged by the fact that he had to work for things! Also, very well use of the prompt. I liked how the quotes seemed to refer to both Draco and Harry and mirrored exactly what was going on behind the story. Very well done overall. I enjoyed reading this very much.

Cheers,
Cira

Great story.
I really liked how the story developed and the interspersed explanations for the card itself. I love Draco keeping wipes in his pocket for after shaking hands and Pyxis is a brilliant addition.
Lovely :)

A lovely story! I miss having a dog. Incorporating the little terrier from the card into the story was a great touch - I wish I could vote, but as a fellow cupster (Go team Epilogue!) I can't give you the high numbers I'd like to. I liked it immensely :D.

Okay, you used a premise that could have been totally cheesy and it WASN'T. Good job! I'm impressed, and the bit about the dogs having their own couches was priceless.

*applauds*

I've got to say, my first immediate reaction when I started reading the story was "Harry and Ginny are TOGETHER?! WHY, TEAM EWE, WHY?!?!?!?" But then you guys got rid of that problem neatly enough and I approve heartily.

I admit that the image of Draco forced to spend all his time at boring chartiy events rubbing his hands raw with sanitizer (and how does he keep his hands soft for those handshakes, anyway? He must moisturize like the Dickens) amused me greatly. And I liked Harry being petulantly not-noble for most of the fic. Actually, all of the fic really *lol*

I loved the mini-hint that Narcissa knew what was going on between Draco and Harry and was hoping for it to happen near the end there. That was great.

And Pyxis!! So adorable.

The way you guys weaved in all the different meanings of the fool card, and made them apply to both Harry and Draco at once, was completely amazing. I was totally blown away.

Overall, awesome story! ♥

A wonderful use of the prompt! I liked the bits of the discription of the Fool Card and how they were used as a prelude to each new section. The line at the very end was perfect, and I beleived it summed up the story very well.

Also, the animal lover in me absolutly ADORED Draco and the animal shelter, and Pyxis was such a typical Jack Russel! (I know, I live with five of them xD) Harry and Draco were very true to cannon; Harry is a bit of a bastard, and Draco is very much a bastard, and a whingy little boy to boot.

Absolutly, Wonderfully done!

If somebody told me yesterday that I would love a story which has Canon!Draco managing an Animal Shelter and walking around with a Jack Russel, I would have declared that person crazy, drugged, or highly dillusional. But you did pull it off. It's quite unbelievable.

Needless to say I enjoyed this story immensely.

I love Kreacher especially. Someone mentioned already how in this story both Harry and Draco represent aspects of the Fool. And whereas Draco's companion dog is of course Pyxis, I thought Kreacher, ever true to his old Black-family ways, fulfills this role for Harry. This sentence says it all: "Kreacher is a good elf. Master Malfoy is from a good, pure family. He is better than the Weasley, oh yes." Lovely Kreacher indeed ;-).

"She's a Harpy." At Malfoy's mocking smile and snort of laughter, Harry clarified, "I mean, she plays Quidditch, the Holyhead Harpies."

I can't tell you how hard or long I laughed at the perfection of this line.

The story was fantastic! Draco was amazing and Harry was terrific, but I really loved Pyxis!

Aww, great story! Draco was definitely both cannon and likable. Love that. Love how he makes elaborate plans and mess them up in a fit of passion. And also, the dog whisperer! LOL. That was great.

I forgot to say. Well. I'm not much for symbolic stuff. I haven't got the patience to stop my reading and think about what it could mean and suchlike. But after I finished the story I read only the Fool-parts again, and I liked how they felt like closure, or, you know. They fit.

I quite liked this story. The idea that Harry withholds the wand is interesting. I think the initial reaction could go either way, but then when he decides that Draco isn't worthy it is very in character for him to stick it out.

The card references to every chapter really linked the story to the prompt and helped show how they each played The Fool.

This was wonderful! I would never have thought Draco having a pet could be in character, but you managed it here (and I adored the tie-in to the Ryder-Waite tarot! well done!). And I very much liked Maria as an OC.

(One tiny distraction was the misspelling of Cesar Millan's name as "Ceaser", which might have bothered me less if it was Caesar but as it was I kept reading "see-ser" and it'd throw me off.)

Wow... I loved it. Particularly Draco's characterization. I think you got so many of his nuances down. From his pettiness to his ambitions in life, to the coyness, and even the little lost boy that even peeks out in canon on occasion. Very nicely done. :D

This one is probably my favorite fool story. It uses the prompt in a very creative way, it was perfectly true to their team, and the plot and execution was done very well. The characterization of Draco was perfect and even the petty way in which Harry reacts when it comes to Draco was very canon. Great Job!

Hi Mystery Author,

Nice story. I enjoyed your characterization of Draco and Harry – I liked the way Malfoy was still pretty bratty yet had mellowed out a bit, and Harry didn’t just drop his old prejudices and forgive him, as seems to happen in many fics.
Thank you for addressing the issue of wand allegiance! A lot of post-DH fics ignore the fact that Harry has Draco’s wand, which is strange since it was such a central plot point in DH.

A few crits though (I hope you don’t mind constructive criticism) :

1. Harry waiting 1 ½ hours for Ginny? Who would wait for THAT long, let alone Harry? A more plausible time would have been 25 minutes.
2. Draco buying a dog was a bit of a *bemused stare* moment for me. But I will accept it as a plot device.
3. I also didn’t really buy Kreacher reporting to Draco out of the blue like that. Was there a cut scene that expanded on this?
4. Where were Hermione and Ron? You implied that they were somehow absent, but never elaborated on this.
5. I know this is a H/D fic, but I don’t like cheating!Ginny.
6. The word sauvé. I’ll admit that pseudo-French is one of my pet peeves, but c’mon, you or your beta should have caught this one. The word you want is suave. «Sauvé» does exist in French, as the past participle of the verb «sauver» [to save, rescue], but it’s obviously not near the meaning that you are looking for.
7. I thought that Harry’s attraction to Draco was a bit out of the blue ... for me this story would have worked better as a gen/friendship fic.

Lovely work! Thank you for writing it.

I had a disagreement with a comment I saw and I picked out the two items that stood out:

I'm under a bit of a time-constraint, but I saw a comment by one reviewer that said waiting for a date 1.5 hours was unrealistic...I can only presume that the reviewer never had the chance to experience this; my longest wait for someone I thought very much worth waiting for was 3 hours.

I also so saw the same reviewer thought Harry's attraction to Draco was too fast...I introduced a friend, male, to the girl who lived next door to me in college one weekend, by the end of the month, they were married and have stayed that way for over 15 years...it's all in the personality. The fact that Draco and Harry have history is something you used subtly and quite well. The overtones of their youth were masterfully woven into their current lives.

Sometimes, I wonder if we read to criticize or critique.
