Senator Chris Lopez supports the ELFD Act, and if you support Senator Lopez for President please consider donating and/or volunteering at our Voter Registration Drive this Sunday! Contact me for more details 😎

Also! Don't do unauthorized magic and damage an inter-dimensional space pocket.

JACKS.
I was thinking about what Caroline wrote last post, specifically about the burner phones. And something isn't sitting right with me that Lucy and (allegedly) Michael Murray were the ones using them. They had this portal, presumably, that facilitated a secret correspondence that was only just now discovered so switching from a more secure to a less secure method doesn't make sense. We know @wh0killedlucy believes Lucy was murdered because she was aware of the embezzlement. We know an expensive-looking diamond L was found at the scene of the murder.

What if the burner phone was how Lucy was communicating with the murderer/embezzler/mustached and/or ginger man? Do you think she was blackmailing him perhaps and that led to the motivation to murder her? We know these men were on campus more than once (the night Lucy was on campus and the event Nate Johnson spied on them and overheard a mention of Vicky) so it's not outside the realm of possibility that they were on campus the night Nate went missing. If he decided to spy on them again and was spotted it would be a good motivation.

I don't know. I'm just trying to think of a better reason for a burner phone that would tie in with embezzlement and murder and the potential for blackmail seems more likely than a romantic tryst, I suppose?

DAVE.
You're going to end our friendship, but Tony Stark is the true villain of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Change my mind.

THEODORE, QUINCY, GIGI
After going to the police with our information Theodore and I believe that it is prudent to prepare for financial retaliation, re: the alumni. We're going to come up with plans for dealing with a stripped or non-existent budget.

CAROLINE & KAVAN
Question, when was the last time we've had a thorough check of our bank account? I'd like to know exactly where we're at before the new Treasurer takes over if you get a chance, Caroline.

Working for the Chris Lopez for President campaign the past week has been both exhilarating and exhausting. We're really moving into a new digital approach to campaigning so follow the Lopez for President accounts ( @teamlopez ) on TikTok / Insta / Twitter. Sign up for volunteer opportunities at www.chrislopez.com and when it comes time for canvassing/phone banking/text banking we would love to have you join us to help elect a Progressive candidate to the Presidency!

Also I made time for the Witch's Sabbath and I'm still exhausted but worth it! I love a good ceremony.

OGF
So what does everyone think of this second puzzle? I barely managed to get my first part in on time but thankfully did.

DAVE
I want the 2.5 hours of my free time I wasted on that Ultron movie back. Why didn't you tell me to skip it? How was it somehow worse than that Thor one?

JUSTINE/CLEM
Hey I miss you guys.

Today I:
  • Arrived back at Havisham.
  • Discovered my Internship would begin on Wednesday and I'll be based out of Philly.
    • This is not the traveling team! That's totally fine! Philly is an important base of operations!
    • Plus I can live on campus! Much more cost effective! This is definitely the best case!
  • Unpacked from Faerie.
  • Cleaned and inspected my new room at the OGF House
  • Ordered all of the needed upgrades and supplies I had previously picked out and saved to accommodate a larger bed/room/private bathroom.
  • Began packing up my current room.
  • Made a list of clothes and other supplies I'll need for both my internship and my new room to pick up tomorrow.
What did you all do today? Is anyone else as exhausted as I am? Faerie was amazing but I'm going to need to detox for a few weeks.

Congratulations to everyone who won. You’re going to do great!! And to all who did not you ran a good race. So many ideas and platforms have been proposed and I hope if you didn’t win you will submit your ideas and suggestions still. Your voice is always important.

Thank you to those of you who trusted in me enough to vote for me for President. I hope I live up to your expectations. I’m grateful for the opportunity.

Day 1 of Finals down! 3 more (for me) to go.

SGA (New and Old Officers)
Congratulations and well done!! I’m excited to see our group next year. I only hope we can live up to the SGA Kavan ran this year. You have big shoes to fill, Kavan ❤️

Beltane is always so invigorating! Did anyone else drop a stone in the well? I do not have time to get sick this summer you guys.

Speaking of summer, is anyone else not taking classes? I took 2 last summer to prepare for this summer but I'm so jealous of the cheese divination class!

KAVAN
So. Should we tell the JACKS filter about what Clem said? The man with the ginger mustache? I've been going back and forth.

JUSTINE, ANNIE, CLEM
I am going hiking tomorrow. I've done a lot of reading on hiking and have warded my new hiking shoes against dirt and water and bugs because they're white and they're new. What else should I take into consideration? There's going to be waterfalls!

JACKS. (later)
So Kavan and I went with Clem to the BMC after she talked to Nate's ghost. She told him he claimed he was trapped in a jar as a bug by a man with a ginger mustache. So I think that's who we're looking for.

MIREFOYLE HOUSE RESIDENTS
The damages to the dorm are enough to necessitate sleeping in the auditorium.

If you live in Mirefoyle and decide to sleep somewhere other than the auditorium please let the RA know where you’ll be (Castle, Firehouse, with a friend in another dormitory, etc). Please ensure your phones are on and charged and make sure someone knows where you are.

I’ll be in the auditorium if anyone needs noise canceling wards to help them sleep or for anything else you guys might need.

The SGA takes all warnings seriously, and the warning earlier today is no exception. Kavan will be talking with Administration about an Emergency Alert System should any developments need to be addressed, but we as students also need to be prepared and practical.

Remember: Campus security installed a new system in the dorms, click your tongue three times if you are in danger.

Do not go anywhere alone. In order to best keep track of everyone it would be wise that every person on campus has 1 buddy that they can keep track of. Should that buddy go missing or worse it will allow us to know quicker. Please pair up below. If you do not have a buddy let me know here and I will assign you one from someone else who is buddy-less.

Please remain calm, but also vigilant. Thank you for your cooperation. If there are any additional updates I will notify you here.

CLEM, JUSTINE, ANNIE

I loved seeing all the creative masks Saturday night (party was amazing as always Justine), and now I can't wait to see what everyone brings for SGA's Lip Sync Battle tomorrow! Everyone here is so creative, I swear.

As a reminder the library is drug smoke free, thank you for being accommodating.

CLEM
So, did you have fun? Also I set out some snacks and water for you for today.

THOM
My day planner told me I have some time at 4:15. Unless you’re doing that smoking thing like Clem is at that time in which case I can probably make time after the Lip Sync Battle tomorrow?

JUSTINE
Relieved? It was perfect!

The ceremony was fascinating to watch. It's not often you can really appreciate a master at work! Elisabeth you did such a wonderful job assisting the Grand Mage and Dr. Lowenstein. And getting to forever be part of the magical seems of Havisham is such an honor. I don't think I've ever slept so hard in my life!

P.S. Theodore there were ceremonial robes.

What classes has everyone signed up for?

SGA ( -KAVAN)
Remember everyone: TOMORROW is our surprise party for Kavan at the pizza place in Philly at 5pm. I've already talked to the owners and pre-paid. I had the picture we took put on a plaque and inscribed. You're all free to bring your own cards or thank you gifts of course, but do not feel obligated. Kavan thinks he's helping me out with a project tomorrow there after school so he'll be there and won't be suspicious. Hopefully holding it a little early really keeps the surprise.

Thanks everyone! And I'll see you tomorrow!

Question, Havisham students: what resources could the school or student leadership have offered that would have helped with the loss, dampening and/or the switching of your powers?

I know there are unique differences between the needs of Spell Casters, the needs of Elementals and the needs of Organics (and within Organics it varies even more) so a 1 track response to this sort of mishap isn't wise. And, though the decay in the magic has been patched and will be repaired, it is more important than ever to ensure there is a comprehensive plan in place to respond to an event like this in the future should something of this nature happen again. But a plan like that relies on the input and needs of the students.

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend, whether you are at home for the holiday or if you have stayed at Havisham. Don't forget to come out and support the Faerie Good Charity Run happening today! Also the HOSA Leadership Symposium on Monday will be a fascinating experience and you should come listen to some of the speakers!

And, as a Mage, can I just say how excited I am to have Grand Mage Tarkin on campus? He's a legend.

JUSTINE
The invitations were stunning, as always. I'm very excited.

CLEM
I have an extra bookplate for the Fog & Dagger Masquerade if you wanted to come. Justine is throwing it so you know it's going to be amazing. I'm going w I'm meeting And masks are always a good time.

KAVAN
Well I picked up my form at Sheffield. So I’m going to officially collect signatures.

Any advice?

STUDENT GOVERNMENT (-KAVAN)
Ideas for a thank you and good luck gift for Kavan? He’s done a fantastic job and deserves a memento from us.

ETA: let's take a group photo this weekend, I’ll get a plaque made, and we’ll do dinner at the Pizza place in Philly on 4/16.

This past year has not been an easy one for the students at Havisham. We’ve collectively leaned on each other throughout our grief, our confusion, our anger and yes, even our joy. The uncertainty surrounding the happenings at Havisham hang over us as we begin the process of planning for a new year, new classes, new students. And also new leadership. Will it be business as usual? Will the strange occurrences continue to occur? How do we plan for the unknowable?

Now more than ever we need to have experienced leadership in our Student Government, to continue navigating the student body through uncharted waters. As Vice President of Students Government this year I have been privileged to watch and learn from Kavan as he dealt with this most dramatic year, and it’s my hope that I can continue where he left off. So I’d like to announce that I am collecting signatures and exploring a run for Student Government President. I hope to continue the steady leadership that we have come to expect from this year, and to help manage and alleviate if or when a new uncertainty strikes. I have plans in the works on responses to both past events would they happen again, and supposed future events that might happen based on past happenings. I’ll release these once my run is official.

I will be outside of Witch’s Brew this afternoon collecting signatures. Please come by and let me know of your concerns or ideas - even if you don’t sign for me. I don’t expect your support, but I would love the chance to earn it.

SPARKS + TERESA
Hello Sparks! My name is Shay, and I'm one of the Flames. Teresa asked me if I'd talk with you all about your upcoming debate! Debates are one of my favorite things and I had so much fun last year when I had to debate for my Initiation.

Who/What you're debating is far less important than HOW you debate. Confidence, tenacity, how to avoid answering the question without looking like you're avoiding the question, maximizing your allotted time, making the worst qualities of your topic actually sound like something enviable, etc. Basically, the fine and long historied art of bullshitting. Have you ever tried to convince your parents/teacher that you didn't do something, or talked yourself out of trouble? Same energy.

I'd like to meet with each of you and help you prep if you guys have the time, the alumnae really enjoy watching this and I want to make sure all of you are confident and ready to have fun. Any questions please let me know!
