That first night with Sookie had been... incredible. Beyond incredible. It had been the most intense, most infusive, most powerful experience of his life, and for Bill Compton that was saying quite a bit, as he'd managed to pack in a great deal of living ever since he'd been killed back in 1864, in the midst of the War of Northern Aggression. Under his careful and considerate tutelage, Sookie Stackhouse had blossomed like the southern flower that she was, into the woman she was always meant to be. And not only that but she had become a willing source of the nutrition he sought. While he could subsist on True Blood, and still did, at least while out in public, he preferred what Sookie had to offer, and since she offered it willingly, there was no problem.
Since their first night together, they had begun sleeping together, although that is a misnomer, for Bill's sleep - which occurred during the daylight hours when he was unable to walk the earth, unlike those lucky vampires who were blessed with ability to bear the fatal rays of le grand Sol - was not the same as Sookie's, but their desire to some sort of normalcy, of regulation in their lives had caused Sookie to do some amending in her schedule, and what with her feeding Bill as well, she was sleeping rather irregularly, and had taken on a bit of a wan appearance, almost ghostly in nature.
His eyes snapped open as soon as the sun went down - it was an internal thing, one which stood him in good stead when he could not access a timepiece. He knew Sookie was not there, but he did not keep a leash on her. And he knew that they would meet when the time was right. In the meantime, he wished to spend some time in the Hotel library, researching a few things of interest to him. A few hours were spent in that fashion, buried in the depths of the older books which smelt of knowledge, and ancient lore, of pages and bindings, and of yearning human spirits, seeking the wisdom of the ages. Closing a leatherbound volume of Civil War commentaries, containing much of the wit and wisdom of the great general, Robert E. Lee, he returned it to its proper place upon the shelf, deciding to return to his room to prepare himself for his meeting with Sookie, for he only wished to please her, and to make himself as presentable to her as possible, for he loved her truly, and he desired her very much. And he intended to have her - again - this night.
